Talking Albatros... The WW1 biplane type

I always thought the German Albatross III and DVa where very elegant looking aircraft. It would be great to see these in FSX native form.

    I found this...

I was a little bit disappointed with this as the wings don't have the thin under cambered wing section and the fuselage is a little bit approximate in shape. The use of materials is nice and it does perform well in FPS. The Pfalz and Aviatik Berg D1 models I was very pleased with however.

I have Lucas'/A2A's Albatross DIII OEF... A beautiful model and I do use it a lot (Why did you have to choose The Ugly cousin Lucas?)

A few years ago there was this project on the radar but it seems to have disappeared....

I raise the subject because I'm getting an itch to build one of these (probably a DIII as the Windsock datafile for the DVa is out of print)... however I would much prefer to buy one someone else has put the hours into... so here is your chance to fess up if you have one in progress (I understand if payware developers want to pm me in private rather than laying out their store in public).

At the moment this is just a possible planning stage project but I'd be very happy to hear someone else has one in the pipeline. I've got a part built Hawker Hind and a number of other unfinished projects on my hard drive that I ought to finish.

Have you tried Rise of Flight? It's a magnificent simulator and I think you can still download and run it for free, but of course with limited choice of aircraft.

A freeware RoF base comes with SPAD XIII and Albatros D.Va. Single engined scout costs about 7,5 $. Those are beautiful models and the game is really good. I have been flying RoF in multiplayer mode since it's launch five years ago.
PM sent, by the way. And yes, I miss Randy's Albatros D.II project, that was a beautiful model...
    Good luck!

I do own a copy of Rise of Flight (The modelling is excellent ) but I didn't find it performed very well on my machine and I guess the bottom line is that I'm not looking for a fight simulator but a flight simulator... and I just love FSX. I think that is what motivated the FSX Camel and Sopwith Pup that Craig and I collaborated on. With stuff like the Just Flights SE5a, Robert Bruce's Brisfit, your Albatross Lucas and the upcoming Spad from Vertigo It seems at last the WW1 era aircraft are getting some appreciation from the FSX crowd. Axis aircraft are still a bit sparse... the only other one I can think of apart from your Albtaros is the Neoqbs Fokker Triplane(which is superb of course). An Albatros would be nice. The above mentioned Pfalz and Aviatik D1 are pretty good too... things are looking up for those of us who like wood, wire and canvas
