Thread: SimWorks Studios F-4B Phantom II

    Trying to understand how to add the AIM9's so they show up.
    Station 2/8 get 155 entries in the FSX payload mgr,
    How do I get the pylons(lau17's) to show? The load in following order I don't follow. Load what were in FSX manager?

    I can get centerlines and wing tanks on okay.

    Thanks

Below is a partial example of how to set it up with the weights in bold numbers which you will enter into the FSX Payload Manager windows. It's a little tricky as you will need to make sure that when you load the wing stations that you add the pylons and proper sub-pylons/rails/TER/MER in successive order on each station before adding the weapon weight (this applies wing station weapons, centerline MER, not AIM-7 weapons or wing/centerline tanks). It's a little time consuming and tricky but it can be done. From the way that the following Air to Air Loadout is set up, you can easily figure out how to add bombs, etc.

    WEAPON LOADINGS IN LBS

    AIM-7E BODY MOUNTED: 455 STA: 6/4 - 7/3
    AIM-7E WING MOUNTED: STA: 8/2 (LOAD IN FOLLOWING ORDER): LAU-17A -150, MWA -24, AIM-7E -455

    AIM-9B WING MOUNTED: 155 STA 2/8
    (LOAD IN FOLLOWING ORDER): LAU-17A -150, LAU-7/A-3 -87, AIM-9B -155

    600 GAL CENTERLINE TANK: -300 STA:5

    370 GAL WING TANK: -340 STA: 1/9

    Hope this helps.

    Here's a quick guide.
    In aircraft.cfg, look for [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]

    At the sections titled Station 2 and Station 8 you can see the weights & stations for Sidewinders.
    I.e. at STA2.
    //-----------------------------Station 2------------------------------------------------//
    station_load.14 = 0, 0.494, -6.968, -3.990, STA2 ---- 10 //PYLON=150
    station_load.15 = 0, 2.375, -6.891, -4.540, STA2 SUB 11 //RAIL=87; LAU33=72,179,286
    station_load.16 = 0, 2.375, -7.045, -4.540, STA2 SUB1 12 //RAIL=87; LAU33=72,179,286
    station_load.17 = 0, 2.375, -8.141, -4.540, STA2 SUB2 13 //AIM9B= 155
    station_load.18 = 0, 2.375, -5.796, -4.540, STA2 SUB3 14 //AIM9B= 155
    station_load.19 = 0, 2.218, -6.965, -5.406, STA2 SUB4 15 //TER=119; AIM7E=455
    station_load.20 = 0, -4.403, -11.178, -2.283, STA2 SUB5 16 //
    station_load.21 = 0, 2.214, -7.820, -5.775, STA2 SUB6 17 //MK82=512; MK82FE=532; MK82SE=572; MK83=985; LAU10=105,212,319,426,533
    station_load.22 = 0, 2.214, -6.968, -6.800, STA2 SUB7 18 //MK82=512; MK82FE=532; MK82SE=572; MK83=985; LAU10=105,212,319,426,533
    station_load.23 = 0, 2.214, -6.117, -5.775, STA2 SUB8 19 //MK82=512; MK82FE=532; MK82SE=572; MK83=985; LAU10=105,212,319,426,533

    You need to load:
    • STA2: 150 to hang the pylon - this is the base
    • STA 2 SUB and SUB1: 87 on each for the AIM-9 rail on each side
    • STA 2 SUB2 & SUB3: 155 on each for the sidewinder

    You can also combine the Sidewinders with a TER by adding:
    STA 2 SUB4: 119
    STA 2 SUB6-8: 512 for 3xMk82s

    Or you can just hang an AIM-7 instead of the above with STA2:150 and STA2 SUB4:455

    Lower items in the section depend on higher ones to appear. You can't have a weapon on STA2/STA8 without having a pylon, obviously.
    The payload manager helps to identify them.

    Landings

    On landings it wants to spin around like it was an icy runway. I thought maybe I was landing too fast to maintain a straight line landing but then it seems to want to spin
    like it's on ice skates. Not sure what the approach speed should be to the threshold.

    I three have also experienced this.

    Also have seen some very strange Tackpack issues - will not drop certain ordinance, no matter what I try. Also - when flying along, straight and level with AFCS engaged & Altitude selected, I get sudden role oscillations - sometimes so bad the AFCS disconnects. Below 5K feet, that can be a little dicey to say the least...

    Don't know if this is just me, an issue with Tackpack, or with the plane.

    Hello Bill,
    MK-77s and CBU's aren't available for dropping in TP yet, although the shapes are available. I probably shouldn't have included them, but they looked cool...

    Thanks for the update. I thought I had selected MK84's but maybe I had selected MK77's, by mistake? - yikes. On the other, can confirm the "rolling" does NOT occur when NOT using Tackpack. So now wondering if my Tackpack setup is messed up in some way?

    Sounds odd. Could be an asymmetric issue. If you would, check your rudder position when you're taxiing. See if it's skewed one way or the other. I think it may be that its not centering.

    Something with the rudder/noseweheel. Rudder at least looks aligned, but the nose wheel seems to randomly turn to one side. For me, I can get the problem to occur if I depress the brake pedals (Saitek pedals - using Saitek software, not FSUIPC here), hard, or go to full deflection on the rudder (either direction), straighten out, and then try to taxi.

    This is also evident on landing, where at landing speed the jet seems like it is on ice. All is well until I use any rudder, or heaven forbid, touch the brakes... I can actually get it to spin 180 degrees without much effort. Very much a handful on landing, as unexpected in an aircraft with high gross weight (for a jet fighter), and a wide landing gear track.

    Ah ha, it's the brakes! The right brake, specifically! I had a similar issue a few weeks ago, but it went away. See if your right brake pedal (in game) seems to be slow to depress when you take your foot off. I think that may be the problem.

    That may be it. It does seem a little "sluggish" in release.

    unfortunately I can't test more until Friday. Heading into the "Friendly Skies" in the AM (very early AM),

    thanks

    Some weapons, such as the Mk.77 are not yet available in TacPack. Right now usable are the Mk.82 (all), Mk.83, rockets, A/A missiles and guns.

    I've had such a problem with my Saitek Pedals, but will check the control logic on the F-4 in case there is a bug and I missed it.

    I too have experienced the same issues with landing ^ It wants to go into a 180 spin and like you said "like its on ice". I use a Logitech Extreme 3D pro stick.

    I haven't noticed this spinning, as I always put her down on a carrier....

    VF-151 Paint

    Sure would like a paint of this VF-151 USS Coral Sea from anyone that has the Simworks studio version. I think they have the paint kit available.
    I know VF-151 was done before but not with the Coral Seal on the fuselage.

    It's a simple enough scheme. When a paint kit becomes available (I've been involved for many months and there isn't one yet) I'm sure it could be made by someone since there will be a Coral Sea carrier.
