More fun with Wozza's Harvard - NZ1078 repaint coming up!

    Hi, folks!

Since the Goose is delivered to OZx, I thought it was time for a yellow peril.
Warwick Carter's outstanding freeware T-6 was one of the first addons I've added to my pristine FSX install. I particulary love the startup sequence with its manual wobble pump and the amazing sound when the mighty P&W Wasp comes alive.

Some great reference pics of NZ1078 can be found here:
    http://rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/13299

And here's the work in progress:

Climbing out at Ardmore (ORBX-enhanced), heading east.
The landing and taxying at Thames was awesome, thanks to A2A's Accu-Feel. Bumpy rides on soft surfaces are much more fun with it!

Meanwhile John "Bomber_12th" Terrell was so generous to provide his sophisticated reworked master templates (including bump and spec maps) to me. A very fine gesture I appreciate a lot!
With the help of this "accuracy layers", this one has become one for the rivet counters:

Just to avoid the antiseptic "out-of-the-box" appearance, I've added some subtle tear&wear to the edges of the access panels plus a decent oil fume layer behind the cowling.

A new stainless steel plate behind the exhaust pipe has just been mounted.

Just to point it out again:
All the Kudos have to be adressed to Bomber_12th!
I've only added some markings and the yellow paint (although some edges already seem to need some paint-dabbing again...)

I hope you can live with the inaccuracy of the wrong model (T-6G instead of the Harvard Mk. III). But compared to the amount of sheer fun this rendition provides, I don't care too much for the spinner and the canopy braces...

    Coming up soon!

    Cheers,
    Markus.

Markus, she looks superb! I'm glad you were able to take to the layered files so quickly - I know some probably aren't too keen on my paintkit 'form'. Looking forward to flying this one over virtual New Zealand once you have it released. ; )

Your judgement means a lot to me!

    Huh?
It's a kind of 'plug&play' paintkit. I wish certain payware developers would provide such user friendly masters...

    @ Bill:
Thanks for asking. Glad to be back!

The NZ1078 paint is almost ready for release, but I put it on hold. The plan is to roll it out packaged with another Kiwi Harvard, NZ1015:

    Early WIP shots...

    And here's the real deal:

Think I'll have to tune down the rivets and panel lines even more: NZ1015 seems to bear some layers of filler underneath the paint...

Looks superb! I'm tomorrow going to re-acquaint myself with the real thing for the first time in 13 years. So looking forward to it, but not the four hour drive each way!

    Cheers,

    Current status:

The main fuselage textures are now scaled to 2048x2048, just to get the lettering more readable.
Some bummers, due to the mapping:
    - aft rescue arrow had to be shifted foreward (fire extinguisher access panel is mapped seperately),
    - canopy frames share the same color.

    Cheers,
    Markus.

    John,

Don't worry, I will definitely make use of your paint kit as there is still at least one Belgian T-6 on my to do list. However I'm starting to worry whether I can finish my to-do in this life as it is growing faster that I can paint them.....

    Cheers,
    Huub

Tony Hiltunen did what looks to be a very nice civilian orange and white sunburst scheme over at AvSim for one of the Sky Unlimited Texan packages based on this aircraft.

Thought it might translate well for the Wozza bird if anyone would like to take a paint brush to her.

Another polished beauty is one I have personal experience with. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to fly this aircraft several times when it was with the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Mt. Hope back in the late 1980's to mid-90's. Unfortunately I can't remember what the Canadian registry was for it. I do remember that a team from Rolite came in before an airshow one year and gave her a truly dazzling shine...

    Hi Friends,
I just downloaded the fantastic John's paintkit and I decided to make a little "pack" with A.M.I. (Italian Air Force) liveries.... Here the first results with the RR-67......

This is the original a/c preserved in the A.M.I. Museum of Vigna di Valle :

The real RR-67 was a T6-G, but I hope, in the future, in a "true" military T6, with RG dome and pilots with white helmets and, why not, a real Harvard with prolonged exhaust....
