OOPS! I need help...

Doubly! because I posted this thread in the wrong place before... no wonder there were no answers...

It was like this:"In other words... save my butt... lol

I was running CFS2 all right on my rig... with Windows 7... and then it started running funny... sometimes Quick Combat ran but not Free Flight ... and vice-versa...
and then all of a sudden it opens... haltingly goes to the requested mode... but the planes are stopped in midair... motors running like at idle... guns work...
and it gets stuck... tried compatibility... and run it in W98 emulation... XP... etc. and it won't budge... Tried re-install.. and it goes fine until towards the end it
says it can't find a certain file...
My install CD is the original... when I bought it many years ago... do you suppose there is something wrong with it... and why did it run so capriciously...
I am at my wit's end... FS9 is fine... but no combat flying or missions there...
Anyone... please help... if possible...

This is only a supposition: could not be that the CD of CFS2 is to old to be runned on a Win7 PC? Another supposition: have you installed the latest updates and patches?
Supposition number three: have you a powerful graphiccard?

have it installed in C: or whatever name has your main disk drive? in Win7 Cfs2 doesn't suffer the presence of UAC... and then run Cfs2.exe as Administrator and with Xp compatibility mode turned on.

Noticed that you are in Italy.... I still own a house in Vicenza... are you by chance Italian? Lived there from 82 to 2000...
If so, per capirci meglio magari parliamone in italiano cosi non ci sono dubbi... o malintessi...
At any rate... what is UAC? I am not familiar with the acronym??? I am more of an artist than tekkie...

so... elaborate a bit too... I am still non-plussed by this thing... Yes I have a pretty powerful rig... both Sony and Corsair top hats... 4 Gig and 16 gig RAM etc.

Che Carlos ! por casualidad no presionaste la tecla Y durante quick combat?
A mi tambien me pasa de tener fallas despues de jugar quick combat no puedo free flight y viceversa , creo que es uno de los problemas de win7 , un abrazo y portate bien !

Tanto tiemo che... como estas... todo bien...
Te acordas que me diste un programita para poder ver donde stan mapeadas partes que no
se ven en el set de textures.... bueno, lo tengo aqui pero no me recuerdo como se llama...
que es como buscar una palabra en el diccionario que no sabes como se escribe... jajajaja
si podes, menciona el nombre asi los busco.... porque quiero saber en un caza P-38 de Brunosk
done estan las ametralladoras... para ver si las puedo detallar...

si pasas por el thread que tengo yo con mis pinturas te daras cuenta...

Ok Carlos , asumo que lo andas precisando de vuelta.
Y lo que te quería decir con lo de la letra Y durante quick combat es que te detiene los aviones como has descrito.

i've seen your creations and i appreciate them very much, in my opinion they are wonderful! Yes, i am italian, precisely from Southern Italy. UAC is for User Account Control, if you are installing Cfs2 outside of Program Files folder, the UAC shouldn't disturb the work of the game...

Ahi veo el nombre del programita... No, el problema que tengo con el CFS2 es que no me funciona mas...
primero le faltaba un file, se lo puse y andava bien... y ahora de repente me hace estas historias.... a
veces funciona el quick combat... a veces el normal flight... muchos de los aviones si tienen VC.. funcionan con
eso pero no muestran el panel 2D... etc. Entonces trate' de reinstarlo... y llega hasta un punto en que se para
porque dice que no encuentra un file...
Bueno, por lo menos con tu programita puedo explorer las ametralladoras del otro que estoy repintando...
por suerte el FS9 funciona macanudo... aun con como 200 aviones que tengo en el...jajajaja

Ah, vedo vedo diceva il non-vedente... (alla FIP Industriale a Padova ove consultavo un tempo avevano un telefonista non-vedente... e sempre diceva.... Ah. l'ingenier Baldo... vedo se ce'... hahaha)
quel cacchio di AUC mi ha fatto tanti di quelli scherzi... e' una cosa odiosa del Win 7 che m'sta sui marroni... anche il discorso permessi... e non me n'intendo abbastanza in modo di domarli...
Non so se si puo'... mi sembra che sempre vuolel fare l'istllazione sul Disco C...
In ogni modo... ringraziote per il tuo aiuto...

Sono molto lieto che possiamo parlare in italiano; quanto all'AUC, se si installa cfs2 su C:\, non vi dovrebbero essere problemi: semplicemente lascia che l'installazione avvenga dove dice il disco, e poi, alla fine, sposta la cartella di Cfs2 su C:\, e avvia il gioco da lì.
Spero di esserti stato utile, magari ti scriverò prossimamente perchè sto realizzando un pannello per il P-40 Warhawk, il lavoro mi soddisfa, ma potrei aver bisogno di qualche tuo consiglio.

Fa piacere anche a me poter parlare con alcun tizio nella mia "terra di adozione"...
Cerchero' di eseguire il tuo consiglio e veder se funziona... In questi momenti funzia solo
in free flight... in combattimento ancora is ferma... l'aereo e sospeso in mezzo al aria col
motore "at idle" (non so come se dice idle... beh non mi ricordo in un tempo lo sapeva)
