I have the Baton. ZLXY to ZMBR in the Hornet.
This will be another dud. Hornet has a range of 3000nm...this leg was 600nm. with 275nm to go, I have 27% fuel remaining after having started with full tanks. Most likely I'll be setting down in some Mongolian Nomad Village at some point very soon. This is why I don't fly in these races, lol.
Baton is back at ZLXY.
I have the baton ZLXY - ZMBR

The Bulagtai Resort doesn't seem to be very hospitable.. no lights, no resort, not even a shuttle bus.

Regarding the route:
The last legs are more or less on a direct route (great circle) to Svalbard but that route goes over the northern part of Novaya Zemlya (625 nm from Svalbard) and northern Siberia.
If I am correct there are no airfields there in FS.
Shouldn't we turn the route more towards the North Cape/Kola peninsula and go to Svalbard from there?

Hey falcon. with regard the Hornet. If you're talking about the Alphasim one, she can make 600+ NM legs, but you have to go high, above it's critical altitude of 28,000. You'll loose some speed, but heck, in that ship who cares if you loose a 50 knots? 30,000+ is where you want to be for 600+ mile legs.

Falcon,
You need to pull back your props to 2800 RPM for max power and better fuel economy.
2750 rpm is optimum
To stretch a leg I will go to 32,000 then it should do 680+ depending on wind. Remember you only need enough fuel to have 2 or 3% in the tank @ 20 nm out from the airport. Once you start descent you should be able to ideal the throttles needing only minor power until landing. You need less fuel if you have more guts.

I have the Baton. ZMBR to UIII. The freeware Hornet.
Looks like I'll be out of fuel at 50nm. Staying at 32,000 til the last second and then pray on the way down.
Baton is free at UIII. Details to follow.
