    AVSIM Offline

Something happened at the Network Operations Center (NOC) that houses AVSIM's server racks. Sometime late yesterday evening the forum server(s) went off line. Our ability to telnet in with SSH (to reboot the system), FTP and all other functions are down. The Library and email servers are still up and running however.

Unfortunately, this could not have happened at a worst possible time. First domain issues with FS Developer and now AVSIM...

Yep! We got lucky and actually managed to get a real live person at the NOC to walk over to the server rack and do a cold boot of the two servers...

Hah! I had to laugh at that.

I work for DoD and we just had a problem with a live mission. We finally got a tech on the line and asked him to physically walk to the rack and cold boot the system ("yo, toggle the on/off switch on the router"). Everything popped right back in. There was absolutely no reason why that should have happened......but we were at a loss....

    Ghosts in the Machine baby!

Glad to see Avsim back on line. I've business with them tomorrow....
