    Mission Builder Download

    Hi all,

    I had to re-install CFS3 today because I corrupted a file

    Does anyone know where I can download the mission builder?

    I thought I saved it, but I can't find it anywhere on my hard drive.

    We should upload all the updates and the SDK here to SOH for safe keeping.

    If someone could e-mail me the Mission Builder, that'd be great!

    Thanks,

    Chris

    After a quick Google search, I could not find the Microsoft Game studios CFS3 webpage. Unfortunately, I believe it is gone forever along with all the patches and the mission builder. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have the mission builder and the patches saved on a flash drive or something especially now since these files are not available anymore.

    I have all the Microsoft CFS3 Updates from the Now defunct MS site.
    They No longer support CFS3..
    If needed i can pass these along.

    I don't know if it would be permitted to upload any of this to SOH?
    With MS no longer interested in CFS3 perhaps having them Here at SOH would be permitted???

    My thoughts exactly, I still have these files but I don't know if it would be allowed to upload because of copyright or some other legal matter.

    Hey guys,

    This has been discussed amongst the staff, and grizzly50 has taken the liberty of uploading the files. The files will be hosted here, under the stipulation that they not be used for commercial purposes. I am working with the other Admins to find a place for these files.

    UPDATE: The files are now in the library, available for download.

    Well I'll be shot down in flames! The Lt. is correct and I confirmed. It wasnt more
    than 3 weeks ago,(about the time I was looking for that P-40 cockpit) I had done
    the whole reinstall bit.

    On another note, since they closed down CFS3, that would probably mean the CFS2 and CFS websites have been shut down as well. Wouldn't that mean all patches, updates/mission builders would have been lost from these games as well? So anyone who would want to download these files for these other CFS games can not get these updates. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to inform the CFS2 and CFS guys the websites are gone and they should save their patches and updates on their hard drive or flash drive.

    After another Google search, the old Microsoft Game Studios CFS2 and CFS websites are now gone, which means all the files related to those games are now gone.

    On the topic of the mission builder, does it read the .cfg or .xdp files for aircraft names?

    Grover, the Mission Builder reads the short name in the XDP,
    but we all know that the 'real name' is the M3D name!

    The Model name is what shows up in the XML, when the mission builder places it in the mission.

    As you build the mission and choose the Aircraft or item it shows the "short" name in the MB during the building process.

    I often build outside of the mission builder and have learned always to use the .M3d name to get the aircraft placed in the mission.
    But as stated you will see the "short" name from the XDP when choosing this in the MB..
    an example of this is,

    <AirFormation ID="6002" Directive="nothing" Country="Germany" Skill="3" Payload="0" FormType="echelonleft">
    <Unit ID="9803" Type="eto_ju52_trans" Skill="3" Payload="0"/>
    <Unit ID="9804" Type="eto_ju52_trans" Skill="3" Payload="0"/>
    <Unit ID="9805" Type="eto_ju52_trans" Skill="3" Payload="0"/>
    <Unit ID="9806" Type="eto_ju52_trans" Skill="3" Payload="0"/>
    <Route ID="5004">

    The "type" is the aircraft chosen in the XML, if opened by Notepad..Type here is: eto_ju52_trans
    That is the Model name.

    But in the Mission Builder as you choose the aircraft, it will show the short name from the XDP file
    for this aircraft that is: Ju52 trans
    I hope this helps..
