    F/A-18A-D Hornet (Legacy) for FSX

    Hello everyone,
While Alex and I are waiting for the F-4B to get painted up, I've returned to a project I've been working on for quite awhile.
    It's the Legacy Hornet.
While serving in the Marine Corps, I had the awesome opportunity to serve with a reserve Marine squadron aboard Andrews AFB, VMFA-321. Being an aviation fan since I was a kid, it was awesome being around what came to be my favorite jet (which had previously been the A-6 Intruder, which had been retired a few years before). Previously, as a field radio operator, I had only been able to see these aircraft from afar dropping training ordinance. Having the opportunity to actually sit in one and fly our simulator was more than a guy could ask for!

So, I'm finally getting around to making my dream of offering a Legacy Hornet with hopefully VRS level realism a reality! I'm also planning on doing every version I can, since they're all fairly similar (this includes CF-188). It's still fairly early WIP, I've only gotten to shadow mapping the exterior and I'm still working on the VCs, but here are some exterior shots. Please let me know what you all think!

    Thanks,
    Jamal

    Very nice!

I find the original Hornet a lot more attractive than the Super Hornet

Nice job, makes the FSX-A/CS Delta look toyish. Optional helmets, very cool if you do with working JHMCS?

Any chance of helping test this? All my flight time is in the Rhino (F/A-18F) but the systems are similar, and I've got buddies flying the chucks.

    Thanks for the comments, everyone!
Wingnut, I really appreciate the offer! I'll definitely shoot you a PM!

Anyone else with flight time or mech experience with Hornet, please feel free to shoot me a PM! You're experiences would definitely help this along!

What about the RF-18A, any plans for that?

Welp, I was seriously considering doing the YF-18A/B, since there's just a bit of minor differences externally. I suppose I could just throw the camera platter onto a single seat A. The platter mesh on the nose is swappable on the model, so it's really easy for me to mix and match parts.

That is beautiful work! What are you modeling in and what is your poly count, just out of curiosity. Will you be going payware or freeware. I will be looking forward to a release.
