Excellent WIP shots! The Germans always came up with some of the most unusual paint schemes for their WWII aircraft.

Shortage's of paint will do that, and, after looking at some schemes I also suspect some of the painters had been drinking the thinners.

    german aircraft paints

    Hallo friends,
with the french paints of the Heinkel He 162 I wanted to launch a new idea for other repainters:
why not to make repaints of surviving german aircrafts "under new management" ?
Some has survived until today, sadly most have been scrapped. Those surviving today are repainted
in german colors. I believe it might be interesting also to remember when thoe aircraft weared other than the german
    uniform.

    No Idea Shessi.

But I have had some time this weekend working on it, Just The wing leading edges, gun smoke, and the stabs left too complete on this scheme.

From what you can find on interweb, it would appear to be
KG(J) 54, the bomber unit KG54, after it had converted to operations with the Me262

    Under New(er) Management.....

To the idea of "under new management", this is a paint of our (Team Daedalus) Bf 109G-6 that will be part of our future releases. The story behind the aircraft was a fascinating one (see here and here), but the short story is on August 27th, 1944, Captain Cantacuzino of the Rumanian Air Force flew this Bf 109G-6 from Budapest to Foggia, Italy with USAAF Lt. Col. James A. Gunn stashed in the rear fuselage to facilitate the repatriation of some 1100+ Allied POWs after Rumania switched sides. Lt. Col. Gunn was closed into the radio compartment, with no outside view, nor any way out, should there have been a problem.
The aircraft, originally appearing in Rumanian colors, was hastily painted with US markings to (hopefully!) convey their friendly intent. After a 2 hour flight, Captain Cantacuzino comes in to land at Foggia with what we can assume was a passenger that was eager to disembark.

Pete is right. The Blue White checkered "Reichsverteidigung" band around the fuselage and the "Toteskopf" (Skull) unit marking belong to 9.KG(J)54 (Kampfgeschader (Jagd)). As there was more need for fighters to defend Germany in this period of the war, several bomber units were converted into a fighter units. The bomber group KG54 became KG(J)54 at 1 October 1944 and was converted to Me262 from the same date.

The paint scheme is seen more often. Several aircraft from Kommando Nowotny were painted in the same scheme.

    Cheers,
    Huub

    Hi BB686,

Yes, its the unfinished Groundcrew Bf110E beta model and the repaint an unpublished repaint I did for this model. Its a real pity that this model was never finished.

The image in the original post is a link to imgur. When you try to copy the image you will only copy the link. To get the image, you have to click on the "insert image" icon and copy the link in the "url" field.
I hope this makes some sense...........

    France 1947 WIP

Over the years, I have painted many axis aircraft models in "under new Management" schemes. Also painted some allied aircraft flown by the axis forces. And I have painted everyone's with red stars .
