Great little airplane. A bit of adverse yaw with those big windows in.. but manageable. the Brits specified a bigger vertical tail and Quad city produced it.. so if you DO find any issues, I'm sure they could supply you with one. When I built mine in the early 90's, they WOULDN'T sell it in N America (I guess that would be admitting they undersized it..LOL) but a couple of guys who fitted floats had UK friends order it.. then ship it back.. yeah..

    Enjoy!

There are a couple of birds with this paintjob. At some point I will probably repaint it, but right now Im in the process of repairing it (the wings have wholes in them that they are supposed to; I trailered it up to phoenix and the prop punched holes in the wings) and getting it ready to fly inside the mode c veil. Lots of fun stuff including learning how to do fabric repair. Here are some pics of the repair process:

I felt the need.. the need for speed

So, I climbed out of the Avro trainer cockpit I have been occupying in some form or another exclusively for MONTHS now.. (thanks NIGEL!!! lol) and swung my numb butt over the sill and into the seat of my RCAF 434 Sqn. Canadair Sabre for a bit of high altitude, HIGHER speed flying.

Cruising at 35,000', over the Irish sea, coming up on the Welsh coast north of Llanfairfechan as I head south, with no where in particular to go on this CAVU morning. (yes I know.. shoulda filed a flight plan and all that).

Only thing to cross my path so far was a WestJet 737, most likely inbound to Glasgow from Halifax.

(patiently waiting for the rain to clear in the RW so I can take out my bike!)

    cheers
    Dave

That bipe shown above is the Avro Tutor, which will be available as donation-ware on Sim-Outhouse as soon as the beta testing and some nice surprise enhancements are all sorted out. The Tutor was the Brit equivalent to the U.S.'s Stearman, meaning it was a between-the-wars primary trainer for the military air corps.

In my opinion, it it as well modelled as anything out there, and it is a category that really hasn't had a proper representative, ie., low and slow with spectacular detailing; and bar-none, the best rendered pilot figure ever.

Caution: Be patient for this one to arrive because it will be perfect when it does.

( I have no affiliation with the authors in any way other than as beta-tester)

Yep, I should have looked at the fuel cap, which is located in a different location at the G model.

The girl in my avatar is Lilya from the comic books "Night Owl" by Romain Hugault. She is one of the night witches who flew night bombing missions in a Polikarpov Po-2 biplane against the Germans. She has been my avatar for a very long time already.

    Cheers,
    Huub

A few assorted images of some of the reasons I keep the old sim operational.
That aside, it runs like a train on a current generation system!

    My need for speed continued...

And what better to follow a Canadian Sabre? :-)

You have to admit, the Cold Lake based CF-104's sure were quite colorful compared to their Euro-based brethren!

    cheers
