I really liked the Matchbox kits. They fitted very well and although the panel lines were perhaps a bit overdone, they looked really nice. Matchbox also offered some very nice models which were a bit less mainstream, like the beautiful Dornier Do18 kit.

In those day I did read Airfix magazine, which always had very bad reviews for the Matchbox kits. The heavy panel lines were referred to as "trenches" . Strange enough they were milder milder in their opinion about model which weren't in the Airfix catalogue......

The only positive review I can remember was about the Flower class Corvette, which was really a spectacular kit for those days.

    Cheers,
    Huub

Ah, Piglet's ol' Chevy Truck. I drove around in that thing here at Ingraham Air Field for years. Ended up getting a new H1 Humvee and a Stalwart truck to add to the service vehicle fleet.

Why is a British SAS truck inspecting a German airfield? I can understand when that they shoot a German airfield, but this is a bit too peaceful for me.

The German Army stole it from the British? I think that was the original paint that the truck came with.

It's amazing what you could find in the desert. I rebadged it and use it for my driving around luftwaffe fields. I also painted one up for the RAF Regt.

"Beutefahrzeug" (captured vehicle). Not too uncommon, given the chronic shortage of equipment across all theatres.

    Case in point:

Just wondering if the B-24 nose gunner is allowing for deflection...

A true Snake in the Grass

This machine has to be one of my favorite aircraft flown by the US Army. It just looks lethal and slick. This thing was the true proof of concept of the attack copter over Vietnam. Here she screams above the crests of the mountains in southern California.....

When I was in the Army back in the 80's and 90's we had the Ah-1F (Prod, mod, ecas and a bunch of names I cant remember) and I was always impressed by them. I had a friend who was a Cobra pilot and he was always telling me about how flying from the front seat was very awkward because of the side stick. It struck me as odd that the Cobra had a sight system attached to the helmet and it wasn't a big deal, but the Apache has one that is wireless and its all super cool and neeto. Same idea just different implementations. One of these days Im going to go for a ride in one we have here at Falcon.
