    Okay, let me ask what CAD program would be used to create and/or modify an FSX .mdl or .bgl file?

    Gmax1.20 (free) , Blender (free) , 3DSMax7/8 (money); will all create and export models

    Create? Any of the above.
    Modify? A very risky area. Best avoided.

    Oh I understand completely and it is NOT my intention to modify anything that belongs to somebody else (wouldn't know how...). I meant if I create something, and then need to modify it.

    Great, I have Gmax and Blender and have access to 3DS Max.
