    SHORT FIELD TAKE OFF

SKYTOP is 2094MSL...Runway is 1540'.Grass..Once a Hunting Pembroke Came and went.I wondered now, if a C-117D could do the same?.. Plane with about 50 Gals Of Fuel,One Pilot,Empty,2 notchs Flaps ,Full power Brakes on, Trim Back release Brake Yoke in Lap,Not Much Head wind,in fact normally a tail wind here, and off she went. So I did the same with the C117D,.to my surprise Off She Leaped off the Grass Runway. Now its Throttle Back Get to Sullivan County ,KMSV,a scant 14nm away ..And TOP OFF all tanks...Yes Landing Also,Low Slow,Full Flaps,Trim Back, Power,Nose High Full Stall..And you can...I seen a big twin do it for real, and know it can be done on the sim...Have Fun!..Vin<label for="rb_iconid_24"></label>

Just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean you should do it, but you did it and that is some darned good flying.

Thanx Guys, This is a Sim world..However,in all the years the DC-3 has been with us ,be assured there are places in the world ,where a bird would not go and fly.Just thinking WW2.In the world,,its still going to places that are almost impossible. The airports of the little know world are littered with bent and broken DC-3s.This is risky business, the utilization of Airplanes to replace pack mules,Camels... The guys who do this,The Guy who straps himself into an antique, way older than himself,,are a special breed..Respectfully they are called "Crazy Bastards"...The One Crazy Bastard I meet years ago at Skytop, with that Hunting Pembroke, showed me world over ,without note, and as a matter of fact, these Crazy Bastards Go on... ,The Buffalo Airways comes to mind,That flying museum, working, making money, providing service, and for many life itself..Yes They Are Crazy Bastards..A far cry of a CAUV flight around the patch on Sunday PM....Mean while Men,HAVE FUN! PUSH the Sim Envelope...We can always Push A Key And REPLAY!....Vin<label for="rb_iconid_24"></label>
