    Icon Aircraft A5 FSX & P3D FREEWARE!!

This plane is for FSX/P3D only. It includes a virtual cockpit (VC) resembling that of a car with built-ins for it.
Includes folding wings, animations ... The gauges are built mostly using vector graphics. Super quality! This addon is the closest possible to reality. Do not forget to read the instructions

And Ohhh...Did I mention...IT'S FREE!!!! Saw a real one on TV and they cost 139K......range of 300 miles.

Yep, love this airplane. I've had it since it was originally released and worked with the designer to correct some minor texturing issues to allow for more latitude with changing colors during repaints. His is the best one available (actually, for FSX. . .the only one available).:salute:

    Icon 5 PD3v4 Compatible?

Do you think the developer would consider making this beautiful little flying machine compatible with PD3v4? I can only imagine the increased experience having immersed myself in the new PD3 version. This would be awesome!

    There's a very nice Icon A5 here: https://www.classicwings.net/.

Its totally compatible with any version P3D, and has a pretty awesome VC.

I heard talk about the FM being a bit wonky at times, but I don't have the expertise to comment on that, I love flying (and sailing) it.

This is actually the same model we flew in the short-lived Sim called "FLIGHT". It has actually been available for a long time however the only thing that the developer was unable to correct was the GPS. He could get it to display, it just didn't have any functions available. Now that's fixed and I'm wondering if he also corrected a small problem with the CHT reading "max" immediately upon engine start? It didn't affect the aircraft performance in any way it was just a coding issue he couldn't figure out at the time. Good News!

The one thing I didn't care for was the pilot figure. He seemed out of place for such an aircraft. An older man in a sport coat and turtle neck, gray hair and a beard, lol. It took some serious alterations to the face and clothing textures but I eventually made him appear more casual, without the facial hair and darkened his hair color so he looks younger (also added Sun Glasses). Personal preference. . .his current appearance my be fine for others, I just didn't like him. lol

Didn't know it started out as a Flight model, thank you!

I'm sorry to say that I haven't noticed if there are any wrong indications when starting up the engine.

Haha, I think of him as a kind of Sean Connery lookalike.

Well, I think the only "fix" to the GPS is that it now follows your aircraft. Beyond that it's "non-functional". I remember him telling me that he couldn't get the GPS to work so I never paid any attention to it when he first sent the model for me to test. Apparently at that time it was just a static map with no movement. Good that he has been able to at least allow it to follow your flight movements (I haven't tried to load a Flight Plan to see if it shows up though).

Also see (as you pointed out Penz) that the CHT reading appears normal now. In the earlier version the needle would peg all the way over as soon as the engine started. Nice airplane (would love to own one) and while the textures are a bit fuzzy, it's still the best model of this "Iconic" airplane around and the interior is excellent.

UPDATE: It does load a flight plan into the map, I just haven't had the opportunity to test if it actually follows the track or if that is simply a visual reference.
Addendum: The CHT pegs after take off with a "CHT" displayed in the area above the gauges. The aircraft will track the GPS

    Icon9 Icon 5 PD3v4 Compatible?

I loaded up the download mentioned here into PD3v4 last night. I spent time setting controls up in FSUIPC5 and she operates and FLIES! About 45 minutes into my orientation flight, however, P3Dv4 crashed on me for some unknown reason. But, the craft looks and handles beautifully thus far.

I actually toyed around with getting the real thing a few years back. The company had cost overruns and now the recent setback of this fatal accident, but it appears from what I've read, the pilot took her beyond some limits, flying up a canyon (which is not permitted) and perhaps came into some local fog. A very tragic loss. I hope they can keep it going.

If anyone would like to read about it, I provided relevant links below. The last link is not an official NTSB report, but a pretty through blog report.

I have also been flying the Icon in V4 and while I see nothing that would tell me it isn't compatible, I can tell you that this particular model will never be made "native" V4, so my advice to you and others who ask in the forum if an airplane is compatible (this is only related to freeware). . .download it, put it in the SimObjects\Airplanes folder, Load up (insert your preferred Sim version here) and try it. That's the quickest way to tell. If the Sim locks up the instant you load the airplane or if parts of the airplane are missing or your framerates go in the tank immediately upon loading the airplane. . .then it isn't compatible. Remember too, being compatible just means most things work (animations, some systems, Gauges, Glass, props), it doesn't necessarily mean that "everything" works as the original aircraft was designed. You only get that if it is "native". . .in some cases that's a big difference.
