Just got a note back from Ms. Murphy in regard to the DCA996 flight into the Grand Tetons (post #17 above).

"The bail-out is accepted. However, please note the 'Clarification of the Bail Out Rule' in the NOTAMS for future usage."

Arrived safe at KLAS. C ommitted to rwy 25R when the wind was from my 5 oclock position at 7 knots! Crazy movements with the yoke and pedals to make a safe landing and keep her from trying to either roll or ground loop.

Parked safe at L06. I liked my landing this time even though I do say so myself.

Arrived safe at O24. ANother 180° wind change on approach so made a left pattern approach to 14 land instead of a straight in on runway 32.

Down safe at O68 after an eventful and thought provoking flight. Twice had to go over the 'soft' top for a short spell. Since I don't have any terrain maps of the area I had no plan as to how to get over the mountains towards Yosemite valley and chose the nearest valley. Big Mistake! Dead end and realised almost too late as the altitude climbed up towards the 10,000 limit. Made swift decision to make a tight port turn as soon as able and try another route.

I flew NW and another valley seemed to lead through the mountains. This was the case for quite a while until again I came against a ridge line far too high and had to make an emergency climb to starboard to get over the ridge. This placed me above a plateau of sorts with no swift let down. I gunned the aircraft seeking a valley or lower terrain area to get below the limit. I don't think I was over the limit for more than 3 minutes but it most have been close. Too scary for words.

However, once I got myself orientated I managed soon after to locate the Yosemite valley and descended into it for one of the most scenic flights I've ever had. Another brief climb back up to 7000 or so saw me break out into the flat lands beyond and I then had to lose some altitude fairly rapidly in a descending port turn to get low enough for a first time approach. I shall definitely beflying this route again in the near future with other flight sim guys from DC3 Airways.

Thanks to the organisers who staged this event and made it so challenging and rewarding equally!

Left my worst landing to the last! Down safe (of sorts) at KSQL. You know what they say about "Any landing you can walk away from!"

My first Duenna and first SOH event. Pretty chuffed to have survived it fairly ok in an aircraft I had never flown before.

Congrats! Yeah that runway at San Carlos does seem a bit short.

Don't know about buying but you are welcome to share the bottles of rum that I took with me on the flight and which have remained safe throughout (read earlier posts on the subject). lol

Is there any way to determine just how I fared with the bronze group ? I didn't really treat it as a competition as it was more atest of the duenna software etc. for me but I would be interested to know where I finished in the bunch to see if I was flying the Boinanza P35 correctly or not.

    Thanks in advance.
