    Question

With information on CDs and DVDs having a trusted life span of around 10 years, is it possible to copy the CFS2 files to a USB flash drive and install the game from there?

Take me out to the black / Tell 'em I ain't comin' back.

    Yes, but why?

Yes, it is possible, but I strongly believe that the disks will outlast yourself. Mine were purchased way back in 2000 and still reads as the day it arrived, and I have several disks dating back to the late '80 that still reads as back then. IF you fear to wear it out, or loosing its information, you may simply copy it. As long it is for your own use, it is totally legal.

    Saving CFS 2

After I build a new basic theater or campaign installation of CFS 2 (MTO, ETO, Nomonhan, SCW etc.) on my computer, I zip it up and then save it to an external solid state hard drive. That way it should not only last a long time, but when I want to rebuild or replace that theater, I can just unzip and place the archived basic theater (with all the proper planes and scenery) straight into my computer and be flying over Malta or Kursk within just minutes.

With external hard drives now measured in the terabytes, you can save a lot of various files, missions and installations, not to mention photos and other documents for use later.
    Keep your airspeed up,

    Jagdflieger,

Ditto. I have three versions of each install of CFS2, that way if something goes to hell, I have a fail safe to fall back on. My installs are on my desktop, my Seagate, and my laptop, including all my centralized scenery and projects. Everything gets backed up about every three weeks.
