    Relatives and Contact People

Staff have been thinking about a system where members, especially if they live alone can store contact information like e-mail addresses, phone numbers of family and/or friends. Then if a member goes absent the first pass would be to send an e-mail to that member and if after a few days there was no response one of the member's family and friends could be contacted. The intention is to bring closure to an absent member or hopefully find they are simply taking a rest from Flight sim and forums.
The information is be accessible only by administrators and the member concerned but hidden to all others.
To activate the system, go into your "Profile" and find the entry "User notes". Here you can add your contact details if you wish.

I'm in Roger. I live alone and although my health is good, I often consider the possibility that just about anything could happen at any time. I've lost close relatives under just those types of circumstances. . .here one day and drop dead the next morning getting ready for work. So yes, I'm all for some way of staying in contact, especially when we see someone gone for any length of time.

Count me in Roger. At the moment I live on my own and have problems with my BSLs and a couple of other things.

    Cheers

Forgive me for stickying my own thread but I'm coming to realise from posts here and pms that there are many who feel this is a good idea. I'm just waiting on Dangerous Dave to let us know that a utility has been activated that will allow this idea to become reality.

I think this is a great idea for the rest of you. It would help put to rest of the wonderings we have when folks don't show up for awhile. In my case this is the end of the road, no one to contact so it would just be a dead end. NIce thought though/

Even if it's your local police or doctor, it's worth considering if they would consent. All our regulars are vips to people like me who spend a lot of time here and worry when members suddenly stop posting. An example for me would be member "Gagit" who was a prolific poster and then vanished without trace... If anyone knows what happened to Gajit please post.

This is a great idea but how are you going to tell if someone isn't around in a timely manner that would help? Is there a way that one can be tracked whenever and how often a member just logs in to sim-outhouse? If one generally logs in several times a day and then hasn't shown up for a day or two, what do you do?

It just seems that to be usefull it may get complicated.

    My thoughts,

    Tom

Didn't Gajit reappear as Barnes, and then announce his retirement from simming just a few weeks ago? Or am I confusing him with someone else....
