Try to save them in extended 16 bits 555 or 565 format. Use DXTBMP (https://www.mwgfx.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm), convert textures to normal 24 bits BMP, edit them and save in the 16 bits format.

16 bits is apt to look soft and fuzzy on screen. 32-bits is as sharp as the proverbial tack. If one wishes smaller file sizes than 32-bit, as might be better for older confutors or weaker video cards,, one might use DXT3 format, with the caveat that doing any further work on a DXT texture will result in corruption of the image, so don't save in DXT until everything is completely finished.

WOW! Looks pretty good! There must have been a gunsight somewhere, I suppose?

    Thanks for all your efforts!

    I think so...

To the best of my recollection, I think there was some sort of eye level periscope...
but I could be wrong.... keep in mind this aircraft was a bomber... just like a B-17...
no reflect gunsights... only fighters and ground attack planes did in WW 2...
Today, you see transports and bombers with heads up displays... which sort of look
like the gunsights of yesteryear... but are mainly sources of flight data at a glance
    without looking at individual gauges.

    Hi Guys,
Well sorry to say, you're both slightly wrong on this..lol.

This model is a Versuchs or experimental/test model, or if you want A model. There were approx 25 built and all different in many ways, as they tested out various options and equipment.

Only a few of these including the V5 and this V7 were tested/used operationally. They had no offensive or defensive armament fitted, so therefore no gunsight needed.

As these V or A models were fitted with a skid landing system (taking off on a detatchable wheeled trolley or dolly), the skids were fitted in the only locations bombs could have been carried ie centre belly of the fuselage, and the bottom of the engine nacelles, so no bombs or offensive weapons could be carried externally....sooo no requirement or fitting of a bombsight. (Yes G, the later B wheeled models which were bombers, had the Lofte bombsight fitted and used in conjunction with the Patin autopilot system.)

This model and all the V / A models used operationally were purely photo recon ac, having the two cameras fitted inside the rear of the fuselage.

    Happy Christmas!

    Cheers

    Shessi

BTW As said in Ar234 post very nice panel pic G, like it!

    Ju388 cockpit

    Hallo Gaucho,
there is a new challenge for you:
in the zip are contained two pics of the Ju388 cockpit.
For me this is totaly inutilisable as paenel bmp for FS2004.
it is as if the pilot is not sitting on his seat but somewhere in the middle
    of the cockpit.
Can you and will you be interested to mak out of this an panel background
as indicated on the second picture?
    Yours

    Ju388 panel

    Hi Gaucho,
oh that would be realy fine to have nice bmp to make a panel out of it.
most pictures I can find have the problem of a completely wrong perspective.
when I do myself a 2D panel I try to "translate" the pilots view.
A good help is to see the aircraft from the side with the pilot a board.
than in normal flight position make lines from the pilot eyes to have an impression of the pilots sight.
When the ac have a good VC it makes the things a lot easier.
    Yours
    Papi
PS I do not believe this one to be possible to be used for my 2D panel project for the Ju288C.
If you compare both planes, the Ju288 and the Ju388 you the that the canopies are different, even they look very similar.
Also the Ju 288 had an different interior enhancement without the instruments in the center position
Thank you for you interest Gaucho

    PSP shut down

    Hi Gaucho,
that's how my wify learned a lot of bad german words and also some french ones she didn' t almost know when I forgot to hit save button after every step.
I just work with old psp6 (a bit ante deluvian but I know to work with) and normally after every step or evolution I save what I did. But some times I forget to do and than it may hapen that my lyrics are not realy political correct.
Thank you in advance for your work Gaucho

    Hi G,
You know there is an autosave on all graphic progs? There is one in PSP, which is standard, and set at I think every 10 mins, there certainly is on my old PSP 7,8 and 9. And you can set it to whatever timings you want.

If you have re-started a project unfortunately it probabaly has overwritten that 'lost' ju388 auto-save, that would have been there. If you haven't then you will be able to get that back, it should be in your documents/temp folder.

If PSP 2018 does not do that auto as standard then set it up... take a look how to

Also, did you get my email asking for a layered source copy of your Ar234 panel? Thanks.

    Cheers

I have the autosave... unfortunately... when I click the mouse sometimes a menu comes out that says … "do you want to delete all your changes"... and in a hurry... I said yes... thinking it said do want to save...
    and away it went... lol
fortunately, I learned a lot of tricks doing the panel... so redoing all the work only took me todays work so far... as a matter of fact I am ahead now...
should have a finished panel artwork tonite or tomorrow... looking pretty good Papi...
I didn't get your email.... but I will send it to you... (PSP or PSD?) Feeling really old today...lol... just turned 82 last nite… lol
    so far so good...
