Very nice Papi. Every time I see these glass surrounded cockpits, I wonder how vulnerable the German crews who flew these aircraft must have felt.

    glashouse cockpits

    Hallo Huub,
    thank you for your apreciation.
As at most the times the medal has two sides.
On one side there is the real vulnerability, on the other hand better aerodynamic and better overall view.
But are "classic designed cockpits" rely better protected?
When you look what damage the B-17's took in their front when Fw 190's made a frontal attack and their concentrated fire hit the cockpit area - - -
In any case 20mm and later 30mm weapons has been murderous against glashouse or classic cockpits.
The best countermeasure was - > speed as the Mosquito did demonstrate it.
Respect o all pilots undifferent for which side the did fly.
Happy and as peacefull as possible new year
    Yours
    Papi

You're absolutely correct an aluminium sheet from a few millimeters won't offer much protection, but is more the feeling.

I can remember the Fouga Magister from my Air Force time. The were used in a shared training program with the Belgiums, but I think that program was already abandoned in the early 80-ties. I think the pnes I saw were all French and they were really tiny!

I think the CM.175 was the Naval version, called "Zephyr" with strengthened under carriage and an arrestor hook.

    That L5 cockpit/panel just beautiful!

Great to see something as simple as an L5 panel looking so good. I really like the wiring/pipework detail.

    L5 panel

    Hallo Gaucho, Hallo Shessi,
    yes this panel is nice,
but, gggr Papi has always something to critic grrr,
for me it is as if the pilot is sitting on the floor.
a lot of time the view point is too low perhaps difficult to see for someone who perhaps has not real flying experiance.
I have found a nice x-plane picture what shows as I would prefer the view
I hope that I will not bore ou with my remakrs

    Here's another livery...

P.S.: Papi... the one you show is pretty much the same view point... actually, the view is not
in horizontal flight but tail dragger on the ground... in fact... during flight the angle of attack for
the wing would stall the aircraft.... and when flying (in real life) your forward vision is only clear near the
horizon... close by...you got to point the nose down to see anything in front...

    Papi,

You do realise the sky/cloud picture behind the panel is just for something to colour the background, a place holder, it's not really meant to represent the actual ac in flight. It looks better than say plain black or white

    Cheers
