    New SVA 4C PANEL...

This one at the request of Misson...
Comments welcome...as always, artwork available per PM request... (provided Misson does not object as it is part of a project of his)

BTW... the original was by Manuele Villa... who seems to have found the time machine!!! the aircraft is a WW1 type (I think) and it sports the pic of a
gal some 2O years into the future... lol

    Hi Gaucho,

I HAVE NO TIME MACHINE !!! You simply shown the panel base bmp WITHOUT gauges, when I made the panel I left intentionally my '30 pinup as signature, hiding her in the simulation with the gauge.

Has "Someone" removed the original gauge from panel.cfg ?

In ALL the original panel cfg You can find the following strings :
    gauge07=SVA_MVG!mvg_Nonna, 621,598,103,134 (in 2D panel)
    and this
    gauge09=SVA_MVG!mvg_Nonna, 300,300,185,246 (in VC)

The original gauge contains the following bmp, the woman in the Picture was my Grandmother and the photo is dated 1918 :

    Sorry about that... lol

No need for anger... lol I just worked on the bmp I got from Mario... and I was just joking... didn't think it was in bad taste man!!!

If you allow me... I will use your gramma's pic...

    btw...

in reviewing the textures Mario sent me... I noticed that the ribbing is WAY TOO thick... the wings look like a corrugated zinc roof...
if a wing were like that... the plane just would not get off the ground... the amount of parasitic eddy currents generated by such a surface
would really impede lift to a great extent... also... the leading the top wing leading edge on the cockpit is scalloped... not very aerodynamic either... the leading edge has to be as straight and smooth as possible so the initial airlift flow is smooth... (the texture wings are smooth edged.. and OK)
However.... on doped fabric surfaces the highest point is the rib... so THERE is where light shines most.. and then the surface smoothly darkens
as it goes down to the sort of minimal trough created between the ribs... this high point point has to be very SUBTLY represented...
in all... albeit the wing surface not being perfectly flat it is not too terribly scalloped at all...

notice the difference on the reworked pic I am enclosing... that is what you would want it to look like...

The sides of the plane seem to be wooden... so what are the little dots in it... nails? obviously cannot be rivets... and if they are screws
there are nightmarishly hundreds of them... lol

    G. (not t'incazzare Manuele.... io sto solo scherzando)

A photo is worth a thousand words!!

Now it is clear!!! No wonder there is the old saying a picture is worth a thousand words...

Notwithstanding this... as you can see.. the surface of the wing is almost flat... the juncture areas are very, very subtle lines...
the texture that looks like a corrugated roof... is indeed incorrectly depicted... you have to go easy on subtle changes
in light... with this picture... one can render a better illusion of the actual surface...
I was working blind basically... for the textures suggested a totally different kind of surface!

I will show you in a short while a new rendition closer to the photos...

And.. since you are the expert... what are those little dots in the wooden fuselage...??? they are indeed in the picture...
but they appear dark.. rather than points of light as you had it in your textures (which suggests elevated points... like nails or rivets)

Flush head nails, polished and painted as all the wooden surface. In the museum plane they are simply blackened by age and subsequent chemical restoration.

    Here is the example..

    Thank you..
yes, nails... still the dark finish would be more like it... Indeed as they are... they seem rivets... points of light...

Now... it is quick and dirty as they say... but this is what you want the wings to look like... not corrugated...

I don't know why I haven't paid this thread much attention before, but I just went through it and I must say that I'm very impressed Gaucho. I piddle around with my meager painting skills, but you sir are a true artist! I also much prefer a good 2d panel over the VC view. I've done a few panel bitmaps over the years, but nothing like your's. There were some panel bitmaps from a few years ago in the thread that I was interested in, but then I read of the theft of your comps and previous work.

If you ever revisit the Seafire or Fw 200 Condor, let me know.

Ooops... don't know how that happened...

Actually, I do, I got so carried away I forgot I should be doing a faired nose variant... this is for the bomber, huh?
I will revamp it... lower the panel to offer more forward view... and do a new firewall...
Somebody very perspicacious just pointed out the error...
Funny.. the older I get... the more things I miss... lol

I had a dig through my reference material and, while I have quite a bit on the '88, none of it has anything useful on cockpits & panels. Only managed to find one link on Google that might be useful to you though (the Ju 88C pics should be of use).

    http://www.deutscheluftwaffe.de/Flug...ockpitJu88.htm

Speaking of Google, something didn't seem quite right with your nice Mig-23 panel but I couldn't think what it was; but when I Googled it this morning it struck me ..... the colour, the Soviets tended to use a rather garish turquoise shade in their cockpits during that period.

I always check your stuff out G but, shamefully, don't compliment you as often as I should. Keep up the good work mate.

    Goooood moorrrniiiing Carlos,

yes you did a fine work!
So the yoke and ECU unit should be on a separate window.
If yould send me the bmp's that would be fine.
Oh I have seen the Ju 88 Nachtjäger you did.
Cane you do it with a separete bmp for the horn?
And than the horn in a neutral position?
I have tried to do my own Ju 88 panels. but humm far away from your fine graphics.

    Happy landings

    Question...

Will it be Ok if I send you a PSP layered file? i.e.: The black backgrounded panel, over it the column in a next layer, and on top.. the yoke (what you call the horn in a neutral position)...
You can easily convert each one into a bmp... for use (that is, if you have a program that can do layered PSD type files) making a popup moving yoke and column... Otherwise... I can send you 3 bmp files (a little more cumbersome to send for me... just trying to make it easy on myself...lol)
Let me know.. here or via PM.

    Tschuess,
    Carlos

P.S. The C.A.S.A. will be coming next ASAP... ciao
