Nice shots there - looks like you have some big glass too!
Thanks! The lens is just a 70-300mm attached to an APS-C, the planes fill so much of the frame because the pilots seem to be flying closer and closer.
Beautiful shots John!

John, I love the paint job on the P-51. That would make a nice skin for A2A's P-51.
What is the Bad Kitty? I don't recognize the airplane.
John

It is a beautiful paint scheme. If I can remember the background correctly; the owner/pilot flew F-102's with the 57th pursuit squadron (Viking's) before becoming an astronaut. The name 'Val-halla' is a tribute to both his squadron and his wife (Valerie).
'Bad Kitty' is an F7F-3P Tigercat and only one of 5 in serviceable condition. It arrived too late to see any significant service in WWII, but has some impressive performance capabilities. The size of the aircraft belies it's low drag area for a twin, and it has an empty power/mass ratio of ~0.25hp/lb, which is nearly identical to a P-47 or F4U. Loaded is where it really shined, having a p/m ratio of 0.16hp/lb, which is a little higher than both the previous (while hauling 2,000lb more than a P-47). It saw some service in Korea, but also shined stateside as a fire bomber.
Bad kitty pix!
Excellent John, keep 'em coming, great stuff.
