    very interesting...especially, page 2.

I typed up a fairly long reply, but apparently didn't send it on Friday.

I did find a couple of my old projects on Page 2, but consider that there are plenty of my planes in the archives here that haven't make the move. Someone should put some screenshots with each of the projects.

I downloaded a bunch of them except for my own projects or stuff I already knew I had.

Looks like a pretty fair collection thus far.

apparently, it is all part of the effort
to restock the soh cfs resource library.

    here's the announcement if ya missed it;
    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...-CFS-resources

    kinda cool, actually.
    although, i gotta say,
    it's a shame it wasn't done
    before the numerous crashes.
    so it goes.

    maybe, one of these days,
when i'm done with the 196,
i'll go through those old hard drives
    i have stashed away
and dig out the cfs stuff
    i collected over the years.
i don't know about getting permission
from the authors before uploading, though.
that would be a daunting task.
that is, of course, if i ever finish the 196....
yeah, i'm still working on it.
    interior is coming along...slowly.
    soooo very slowly

    btw, did you notice the
Members who have read this thread:
at the bottom of the page?
i've always been a little curious
about who's been perusing in the cfs threads
    sometimes the magic works.
    sometimes it doesn't.

I know this might be tedious, but someone should check out the downloads before posting. So far, I can say I have kept NONE of the recent downloads. Either I already have them or they have problems working or I already have a better copy. Mostly it is the former.

I think the "Members who have read this thread" part is cool.

    Off Topic - News

Just found out that one of the mountain climbers in Peru was the son of my kids' Physical Education teacher.

    no doubt there are duplications,
bad files and all the rest that goes with it.
i could be a full time job doing it right.
    and that's just for cfs.

    nope, i'm not volunteering.
i might have, finally, learned my lesson.
    i've got plenty to-do's
and not enough time to do 'em.

sorry, i haven't watched, listened to,
or read the news for days.
i know nothing about Peruvian mountain climbers.

    Bretoal

    Hello All,

Looks like yet another Zombie thread revival, but I didn't see the point of starting up yet another thread on the same topic.

I know we all tend to be occupied with our own projects and such, but has anyone else here noticed the fairly recent uploads by BRETOAL?
I had found them elsewhere and they are truly superb models.
BRETOAL's CFS Virtual Cockpit POV shift as told to me by Hubbabubba with some slight modifications is what I have been using on my own model for years. I certainly never would have figured any of the SCASM business out without that guide to begin with.
BRETOAL and Hubbabubba are the masters of SCASM work.

I did notice that the download numbers are quite high so someone HAS noticed the new entries, but no one in this forum has commented yet.

    Hello Smilo,

Seeing models like this that work in CFS ONE is why I keep trying to improve my own.
The capabilities of the simulator are obviously much greater than many of us believe.

    Hello BRETOAL,

If you are following this forum, please join in. I am sure you could answer a lot of SCASM and modelling questions we might have.

    Regards.
    - Ivan.

i believe, many of the cfs1 limitations are really,
the limitations of the design programs.
with exception, the lack of z buffering.
(yes, there is an argument there)
    with today's more powerful computers,
much more complex model can be displayed
without driving frame rates through the floor.
and, as hubba has proven, complex sceneries
can be constructed and run in the game.
if only someone could come up with a way
to create and display better cloud formations.

I will just add my 2 cents,
smilos AR196 came out great for CFS1 and also looks great in CFS2.

I know he used AD2000 and it is Freeware

thanks, Dave, your compliment is much appreciated.
    the funny thing is,
i didn't really know what i was doing.
i was learning as i went along.
i guess, that's why the project took a year
and by the time i was done,
i was burnt to a crisp.
    oh well.
at least, i have one good one to my credit.

    as for model complexity,
i never did find the ad2k parts limit.
i always wanted to push that envelope,
but, was never able to continue on.
too many irons in the fire, i guess.

here's a little secret for ya,
back then, i thought it would be very cool,
    to collaborate with another builder.
    someone to scale the drawings
and construct the parts in high detail,
with no regard for parts count.
then, i would put them together,
like a puzzle, all sequenced with ad2k.

of course, as can be clearly seen,
    my little fantasy never happened.
    so it goes
    sometimes the magic works.
    sometimes it doesn't.

    Hello Smilo, No Dice,

No question. The Arado is excellent.
I can tell you from a lot of personal experience that the AF99 hard limit for Parts is 1199.
I and probably a few others have always been curious about AD2000.
The problem as with any other new package is figuring out where to start.

Smilo, Any thoughts of giving us a quick Tutorial on the subject?

Regarding the idea of a combination build, that may happen eventually, who knows?
It already happened to a very small degree.

It is quite interesting that we have so many folks that are specialized in one or two areas and have very limited expertise in others.
If we could only combine them, we could put out a LOT of great projects.
I think I do well enough in AF99 and Flight Models but have no clue about Panels or Gauges and very limited SCASM experience.
Just to make you think a little, the idea of combining efforts is actually a real one.
I just need to make sure I can carry out the parts that I would plan to take on.

    - Ivan.

    thank you, Ivan.
    that is high praise indeed.

    as for a getting started with ad2k tutorial;
i'm afraid it's been so long since i've used it,
i would need a tutorial to start using it myself.

at this point in time, much as i might want to,
i'm not sure i have the time
and/or the energy to revisit the program.
even if it was a collaborative effort.
i have more on my plate
    than i can possibly accomplish
in the short time that i have left.

Well, there is a brief tutorial in the download.
I think I remember that smilo mentioned that
    AD2000 and AD2002 worked either way ???

After that project he stopped talking to me
for a month or two, LOL

But I think we are still friends,

    what do you mean,
"... he stopped talking to me for a month or two.."?
gosh, Dave, it's been more like a year or two.

"But I think we are still friends,"
well, of course, we're still friends, Dave.

I am just wondering how many people can name the movie
    that smilo appeared in ??
