    messing with r8 texture files

Im playing with someone else's scenery and trying to drag it kicking and screaming into my install,
but the designer has used r8 textures for concrete and ashpalt taxiways ect and i cant lay an afcad underneath without things looking c**p, i can rename them bmp and view them with Dxtbmp, but thats all i can do, i need a program that opens up r8 files and maybe make them transparent.
i like the scenery but if its to much hassle, it may not be worth it.
    cheers ian

If you can view it in DXTbmp, can you then save it as another type, such as 8-bit, and apply a black alpha?

Edit: Just tried it myself, and it will save as any other format. Now, whether applying a black alpha will make it transparent or not is another question. You may also need to rename it back to *.r8 when you're done.
