Another air combat sim i highly recommend is IL-2 1946 BAT. Cheap to get ,tons of mods that expand on it and bring it up to date, covers All combat aircraft history, and did i mention Cheap and easy on your pc. If only interested in WW II,there is a option for only that. Just a suggestion...
A link to where or how I can get it would be highly appreciated, especially the mods you mention, for that Whirlwind is a favorite.

You can get IL-2 1946 on Steam , https://store.steampowered.com/ , You can get the BAT addon and tons of more downloads,forum, and more here, https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php Hope this helps. The addon and all other things are all free at sas1946.

Finally added Ankor's shaders to CFS3/OFF-(freeware version), The results were awesome ! Thanks Andy for showing me that was possible. Sure livens things up for this old expansion.
