<Title>ETO Norwegian Thorsager Bomber intercept HH 607

<Overview>Your Squadron is to occupy the Luftwaffe and prevent them from opposing an invasion by over 5,000 Allied troops, mostly Canadians, who raid Dieppe, France. In the end, some nine Spitfire squadrons were sent into the area to stop the bombers reaching Dieppe.

The North Weald Wing on their second sortie shot down eight of nine unescorted Do 217Es.

Returning over the Channel, a frantic "Look out 190 approaching 3 o'clock!" caused Lt. Kristensen, Yellow One, to whip round and fire a short, effective burst. The 190 burst into flames and dived inverted into the Channel -- it was only then that they realized that it was a Typhoon ... R7815 of 266 Squadron, the pilot being killed. The Norwegian squadrons were up in the air several times a day during the ill-fated Dieppe raid by led by Canadian forces.
Led by Scott-Maldon they got stuck in with the Germans at several occasions.
A German Dornier 217 finds himself surrounded by angry Norwegian Spitfires and only seconds go by before the German plane shivers and black, thick smoke gushes from its engine. One or two parachutes opens ups while the attacking Norwegian Spitfire breaks hard left to avoid hitting bits and pieces from the doomed German machine.

<Title>ETO Hudson CC Anti shipping HH 608
<Overview>Your squad have been moved to Bircham Newton to patrol Off the coast of Norway. Attack any German surface vessels or U-boats you may encounter.
No. 407 Squadron was formed at Thorney Island in the United Kingdom on 8 May 1941 and was originally equipped with Blenheim Mark lV aircraft but was soon re-equipped with Hudson Mark V aircraft. The role of the squadron during World War II may be described in two phases, the first phase ending in January 1943 during which time 407 was engaged mainly in shipping strikes, it was as a strike squadron that it won its reputation and its nickname 'The Demon Squadron'. And the second phase lasting from January 1943 to disbandment during which time the main function was anti submarine activity. In its four year period of duty in the British Isles the squadron, in addition to Thorney Island, was based at North Coates, Bircham Newton, St. Eval, Docking, Skitten, Chivenor, Limavady, Wick, and Langham. The squadron was disbanded on 2 June 1945 at Chivenor.
Although the squadron was engaged in many different areas, as can be attested to by the varied battle honours won, one particular excerpt from the squadron diary will give some indication of the work done by the squadron:
'During the month of May 1942 the squadron set up an all time record for damage caused to enemy shipping. A minimum of 83,000 tons of enemy shipping was attacked from April 30th to May 31st.

Lookin good! Not much flak though.... Are the gunstations on those merchant ships stocked with 20mm_Flak? Is the rate limit for the gunstations up around 60? That would help keep you on your furry toeses.

    <Title>ETO Dieppe Hodson 401 Sq. HH 613

<Overview>Your Squadron is to occupy the Luftwaffe and prevent them from opposing an invasion by over 5,000 Allied troops, mostly Canadians, who raid Dieppe, France. All four RCAF Spitfire IX squadrons were initially reserved to escort B17 bombers of the USAAF for a raid on the Luftwaffe base at Abbeville.
On the way home from Abbeville Ken Hodsons 401 RCAF squadron approached Dieppe descending to 10,000 feet where a flight of Dornier 217s, escorted by FW190s, was starting a bombing run. 401 Sqdn. quickly broke up this attack damaging several bombers and destroying at least one FW190.
Pilot Officer Dan Morrison closed to 25 yards before firing a two second burst and his own aircraft was damaged by flying debris. He was picked up in the water after bailing out at 250 feet.

<Title>ETO BOF Le Meslee Hawk 75 HH 700
    May 12, 1940
<Overview> You are to fly a patrol near the Ardennes, engage Any German aircraft you may encounter..
Edmond la Meslee shot down his first German aircraft on January 11, 1940 in one of the few air combats of the Phony War period.
His best day's fighting was on May 12,1940. His flight of Hawk 75As jumped an unescorted group of Stukas over the Ardennes. He shot down two and shared a third. The French ace Edmond Marin la Meslee collected 20 victories (16 confirmed and 4 probable) in May/June 1940 with a (P-36 Hawk) Curtiss H75A. He was pilot in the GC I/5 which obtained 111 air victories (84 confirmed and 27 probable).
**The German ace Werner Molders had been shot down over France ( H75 Hawk) and made prisoner like 714 other aircraft crew members during the battle (on June 17, France had still about 400-500 German airmen kept prisoner)

    Heck of a mission!!
**Warp after take off,, ***After engaging the he 111 Do Not Warp! Again,, Fly the mission and enjoy what happens. Plibeau GC II-4 All the airplanes engaged in this battle came back, except Captain Guieus machine that was damaged during the attack on the bombers. Captain Guieu managed to land his crippled airplane on a French airfield occupied by the Royal Air Force. This was not the case on the German side. Effectively, one or two 109s - depending on the reporting sources, will be reported as missing. On that particular day, around 1615 hours, the Me 109s of 7.JG 53 entered combat with eight French Air Force Curtisses in the Rethel sector. Oberfeldwebel Franz Gotz, Feldwebel Galubinski, and Unteroffizier Neuhoff each claimed one individual victory. But, the Staffel lost his leader Obertleutnant Wolf-Dietrich Wilcke, who had to bail out of his burning airplane.
According to Wilcke's journal, which is kept in the Freiburg Bubdesarchiv (number RL 10/277), Franz Gotz's airplane was also shot down, and those two future renowned Luftwaffe aces were taken prisoner. The Henschel 126 (in ETO Hs 123) more than likely belonged to 3.(H)/41 who lost two airplanes that day in the Northern part of France. It was not possible to identify the first 109 claimed by Plubeau; however, one airplane of III./JG 52 was compelled to make an emergency landing in Merzig, following an aerial battle. Finally, the Heinkel 111s shot down were probably those of II.KG 55, which lost several airplanes on that day in the Sedan region. It is however certain that both ME 109s shot down on that particular mission were victims of GC II/4, and in view of the circumstances of this air battle, it is possible to attribute the downing of Wilcke to Engler, and the downing of Gotz to Plubeau.
