The old girl cleans up pretty good with a proper coat of paint, nice work! Nice to see that one getting some attention, too bad MS didn't give us a glass nose J model instead of those two hard nose variants that only saw action in the Pacific.

  2. #2052
Yea Dan trying to find ETO info on the other two variants H, and J, looks like its gonna be hard work lol May have found a possible H that served in the MTO, but need to find more reliable sources first?
Original Microsoft research seems to be very iffy "Battle for Europe", hmmm
I will do some PTO versions, some good nose art.

Regards Andy, and SPman's comments yes the B-25 even looks narrow from the outside, I think most US medium bombers were quite narrow? The RAF's HP Hampden would take some beating though, lol that must have been claustrophobic!

Your skins certainly don't look "iffy", John!

  4. #2054
Thanks David, just finished a couple that will fit nicely into your MAW 43 install, "Dirty Girty From Bizerte", and "Oh-7".

It's hard to recognise this as the stock model

  7. #2057
Clearly, it's amazing what results a great skin can give!

One for the PTO! I'm still messing around with the metal finish, it's not quite how I want it!

I just picked up a copy in Very Good condition of Warpath across the Pacific: The illustrated history of the 345th Bombardment Group during World War II signed by the Author ($30). It's packed with pictures of the B-25 making low level attacks against the Japanese.

It's the perfect compliment to the copy of General Kenney Reports: A Personal History of the Pacific War that I acquired from a friend a couple of months ago. That has a wonderful narrative of the entire campaign, but alas no pictures.

p.s. I just found a copy of General Kenney's book on-line for anyone interested in a great read. https://media.defense.gov/2010/May/2...100526-032.pdf

    That title caught my eye!
I think (from the description) it's the one I purchased around 1990 or thereabouts.
Always liked those unit histories but this is a stand out, at the time it cost around A$150:00 and it was the first publication of its type to feature laser scanned images.
My copy resides (somewhere!) in my 'library', probably keeping company with Roger Freedman's 'Mighty Eighth', another standout publication.
    Must go look them out.

So tempting to modify the MS aircraft but it would be weeks worth of work for a just ok model.

  17. #2067
Yeah I know what you mean. No doubt the nose would look top notch, but the rest of it...not so much.

Some might say that even just a good model of say a glass nosed B-25J would be better than none at all

I'd say, anything we don't already have would be great ,including repaints and revised flight models/cockpits....
