I was more meaning the 322 Squadron being represented, but I suppose there is explicit reference to the monarchy. I must say though, I was both impressed and amused by the current king's double life as a KLM pilot! When you've got the flying bug, you've got the flying bug.

But yes, the Norwegian skin is already released with the early VBs. I really like the cannon barrels on this one!

322 Sqdn. is still active, I believe! I have to look up the Norwegian Spit. I was so busy trying to get the RSM to run, I didn't check out all aircraft (to my shame )

His granddad, prince Bernhard, had the same passion. During WW2 he flew Spitfires in.... 322 Sqdn!

It is still active. I saw that when I was putting together the writeups. Actually I learned there are several countries which have done similar things maintaining a lineage to RAF squadrons - No. 350 Squadron in Belgium for example.

Here are a few showing some of the damage effects that are part of the new Spitfires.

Note the oil streaming from the bullet hole in the oil cooler.

A flash fire of coolant following the pressurized coolant system being ruptured by hits to the radiator.

Coolant streaming from the damaged radiator. You can also see where oil from the damaged oil cooler has gotten on the horizontal stabilizer.

    Internal cockpit damage.

The perfect balance of a great flying machine. The Spitfire Mk IXc . More than a match for the Fw-190 or anything else the Luftwaffe could throw at it IMO. Simply lovely...

This has to be one of my favorites in the latest SJ Spitfire package. The Merlin 55M engine powered Spitfire LF Mk Vb FF-D. None of the engine stalls with negative G forces. Puts it on par with the Bf-109 at the time. Thanks SJ Team for all the work and effort put into these outstanding models. Will keep me busy these Winter months !

Fantastic Daniel! Great to see that the cockpit damage finally became a reality!

How did you get it to stick on the opening parts of the canopy?

Some SJ Spitfire VB (Late) Shots.

    Fantastic textures, interesting details

278Sq Yellow squadron codes, black ventral stripe and of course my own favorite, clipped wings

302Sq with "look at me stripes" for Dieppe Invasion

    317Sq Small Roundel

313Sq - leaks, weathering and just good old wear and tear.

Fantastic work on the textures by John (Bravo/4) Whelan

Those are part of the model instead of an effect. I believe Steve used the engine 3 endcap and I used a little AHK magic to animate it in response to damage to the canopy. But IIRC the initial version just put engine3 in the same damage box with the canopy and it triggered when engine3 was damaged. The current setup with the Spitfire allows either of two sets of bullet holes to appear on the canopy.
