Thanks, made my day. That start up was great!
Wow, fantastic looking beauty! I only saw one once when I was a kid and since it was early 70's, if I recall, was sadly probably enroute to DMAFB. I didn't realize how big the radar dome is until seeing the video of it again. A little off topic, but does wawwwnyone have first hand knowledge of the flight characteristics with that attached? It must have created some hellish drag and performance issues. Just curious. You know, I got to fly a T28 out of Chino many years ago, was absolutely a fantastic airport to fly out of and back into with great scenery and many classic airframes, Trojan included.
Thanks for sharing.
Matt
Thank Don , that was brilliant , more and more of them getting airborne , superb
What do you guys and gals think of the Just Flight connie. It looks very good, but I would love some
input about her. I keep checking it out and just can't decide, just so many hot planes to buy. I really
want to buy the DC6 when it comes out.
For those interested this video kind of shows what we did with her, way, way back then.....

To answere you question about the JF Connie. I have it and love it but it is not perfect. The main problem is there is nothing happening when you go beyond the engine or flight limits. If you are used to A2A and flying within specs to avoid damage you will not be happy with this plane. But I did run a across a neat little program called RealEngine that takes care of some of that. You can set this program to have damage or problems with engines, flaps and gear if you dont set it up correctly and keep it in spec.
Another problem is the textures in the cockpit but I am doing a couple cockpits for this that will help with that. I also have the freeware Connies but the JF connie is a better model with real engineer station, not just a popup, and other cool details.

Nothing adds more credibility to a video than having George C. Scott do the narration
Racartron
it means something, but I just can't remember what
That is correct, we were all old together, George and I. Flying on the Connie was the best duty I had. Loved it, seeing her airborne again was a real treat. Wonder why they never fixed the squealing brakes.

I think the brake noise is normal for the Connie.
I know that at least the military versions did. Every one I ever worked on or flew on they had it, I like it though, adds a little more to her mystic. Always got me back from the 14 hour missions

i have a chatroom friend who currantly lives in alaska, all i know is his first name is jim,,i do know his chatroom nickname,,he is an ex-CDF (Cal-Fire) pilot, and did several other things,,he flew in haiti after the earthquake there,,,,he owns a bell 412 ,it was transported to haiti and then he used it there...anyway,,my point is..he claims to have flown the plane that went from cammerillo to chino recienlty ( i have no reason to not believe him)he did not say when he flew..but that he had before it was "parked" ,but what i question about his claims now..he swears he landed a connie on a 3900 ft runway....seems unlikely to me..but he swears he did it...
Those sounds and images during the starting of those R-3350's sure brought
back memories of the ramp at Tan Son Nhut during my days with OASU/VX-8
over there.
I got to go flying, as aircrew, every other night in one of our two NC-121J's and was often
on the ramp on my "off nights" to get the duty bird out of the reventment and
on it's way during my first 6-month TDY there.
The 2nd TDY was up in DaNang and I went flying north every night up there.
Thanks for the links to those videos!

Oh BUGGER! , guess its the costing /air cert and simply the the task to keep it maintained , still has a chance possibly ?
I was up at Chino yesterday to see this old girl in person and it is a shame if she will never fly again, the original video from the start of this thread was great, I would have loved to have seen her fly in.
Anyhow here are a couple of phots I grabbed yesterday..
Thanks for the photo's. I can't recall now where I read it, but there was some scuttlebutt about limited flights. Hope I just wasn't having a senior moment.
