    Question Question about starting aircraft

Hello...I have installed the T-6G (LT-6G) Texan 'MOSQUITO' for CFS2. When I press E and the engine starts it then stops with the message "can't start engine" I have also experienced this with the 1% aircraft. Does anyone know how to fix this? Maybe I should connect the battery cables?

    thanks

First of all make sure you have the throttle opened up - sometimes even 10% is enough. If that is not the problem the try this:

Open the aircraft config file and find this entry -

    [piston_engine]
    power_scalar =1.00000

Change the power scalar to 1.10000

That usually lets the engine start. You now will have an engine power increase as well, so the next step is to start lowering the scalar number to the lowest point where the engine will start so you effect the engine power as little as possible. Try 1.07000, then 1.05000 etc.

If the config file does not have this entry, simply copy the above and paste it into the file. Doesn't really matter where in the file as long as it is separate from the other sections.
    Cheers,

You might try a manual start up.

    battery: on
    Magnetos: both
    Mixture: full rich
    Throtle: 10% to 20%
    prop: fine
Starter: Hold until the RPM reads and is steady on the tachometer
    Keep your airspeed up,

Sometimes you need to start with full throttle.

I sometimes use this setting to Fine-Tune engine power when fiddling with the Over-All tune in AirWrench is too tedious.....

Amazing how well it works a tenth at a time to get an A/C off the ground and up to cruise speed realistically.....

Thanks to all for your replies! I will try all of these and see if I don't have to push it off the runway...:salute:

    The simplest solution

Very often it is enough just to press "E" and hold it down until the damned things fires up.
