looking forward to it.
Ian, thanks for finding this! It looks like Aeroplane Heaven followed up on an old promise? This day gets better and better: I just downloaded the Flying Stations Buccaneer which I have been waiting for a long time and now this heads up
Another classic Brit for FSX.
That is very good news!

JIMMY JILLERKERS there LIGHTNING man , this is the one the world has been waiting for :salute:
A few pics to be going on with.
OY, look at that VC. I'm in!
Most all of the type had this appeal , strange i can recall my first view of the Lightning , Avonhead primary school , would have to be standard 1 ... not a photo but an artist drawing/painting ... with the collection i have today , i wish i had that very book on my self.
Barry
Thats a great looking rendition... is it just the F6 that you are doing at the moment?
Matt
from the site looks F6 only but i do hope theres more, i for some reason like the later mark's expecially the twin seaters...
We are building just the F6 for now, unless the boys say otherwise. The point to remember here is the time. A single model version of a subject is easier to deal with all round from models and textures to flight dynamics, sounds and beta testing. Any dev will tell you that "just a few tweaks" is never it. On Lightnings, for example, ventral tanks, armament and avionics changed considerably, things like ailerons were different shapes and designs and cockpits were quite different. Just by adding another variant could add another month, maybe more to the dev time before it gets anywhere near a beta tester. An F2 with rocket packs would be a major build, especially if you wanted the packs removable and displayed.
So, it's the F6 for us. It's the one that is operated by the LPG and up until recently , the ThunderCity group and went on to have the longest career with the RAF.
Dang it, Barry, you MUST deffinately have dwarfs working for you while you sleep !
Great subject ! Looking pretty cool !
How's the DC-6 coming along ?.... Any ETA ??.....
Cheers,
Jan
Yes the F6 comes with a VC toggle for overwing tanks.
any late low viz gray paints?
I have just put in my request to beta test this, one of my all time favourite aircraft, having passed up the DC6 (and other 'hush, hush' projects!) as they are not my area of expertise.....for want of a better term!!
The Lightning , now this is to be a goodie against the A2A Phantom ... the stories between the both are lengendary , course the best footage would have to be at the beinging off the BBC TV series 'TestPilot'

KD, .. the training of our only RNZAF test pilot Steve Moore was part in parcel in the doco , like most off the worlds defence departments , they really have shaved the cream and some respect the history .
Iv'e been waiting for an FSX native Lightning for some time now. Would have preferred the earlier versions & T-birds (trainers) but I think that the F6 is still a good choice. They were the last to see R.A.F. service and, with a repaint, can be passed off as an F2A that saw service in Germany.
The screen shots look stunning & i'll definitely be buying this one.
Mike
PS Happy Christmas & New Year to you all.
