So, I did some research on the Lodestar, put together some folders of all the data and ref pics, and mistakenly put in the Harpoon 3-view. LOL

So, this is what I got.

After the Grumman "Five" (7 variants) and Avia 51 and 156 projects ( 9 total aircraft variants), I will proceed with the the Harpoon and Lodestar projects as SOH participative team work. Well, at least that's my intent. Maybe throw in the Model 18 civvie for good measure.

So, Harpoon first, then Lodestar. Does it really matter?

Definitely will do anything I can to help. I think the closest Harpoon is now at Chino,CA after the Rialto PD used the one at my airport as a gunnery target, allegedly without the owners permission. I think the same guy/company owns the one at KCNO and I think I can get access to it for pictures.
I'll get working on that tomorrow just in case you need some in the build process.

Not sure where the closest Lodestar may be found, I think there is a conversion at KCMA, but need to double check that.

Great news that you have decided to round out the Lockheed lines....they could not have been taken up by a more talented designer. I am sure the rest of the SOH "staff" of volunteers will once again step into the breach as they did with the Avia and Grummans.

Thanks guys. I am in pretty good shape for Harpoon reference pictures for the exterior.
What would be nice are interior and cockpit shots. Those are the least easy to find.

As for the Lodestar, same deal with ref pics.
I would like a better quality Lodestar 3-view.
The Harpoon 3-view is great but my Lodestar is very basic.

I don't have the skills for aircraft design or panel and paint work , but I can sure help out by bring virtual coffeee ( ) and encouragement at any time.

I'd be good at placing a hangar and flight office on a strip anywhere to suit to house this creation though.

The Harpoon is esentially the aircraft that Dee Howard re-manufactured into the well known Howard 500, so some things come full circle!

Yes it does....LODESTAR!:salute: Mostly because the Lodestar had so many different applications both military and civil. (Think of all those great airline liveries). Of couse some Aleutian 'Poons would be cool as well. A win win here.

Well, had I started with the Lodestar as I intended, the Harpoon likely would not have been done. But after 2 days of cobbling together and pushing polys, I said, "Might as well do the Harpoon!".

Well, as I said, I really meant to do the Lodestar first but in my ignorance ...

I'm really not into doing a full-fledged Harpoon but I will get all the basics in place and we shall see how she comes about.

I have lots of walk-a-round pictures of the exterior so in good shape there for the moment.

I really need some cockpit pictures of both the Harpoon and Lodestar.

I prefer original design over later mods.

For some oddball reason, I thought these ships all wore Wright R-1820's.
Not that I wouldn't do them again and again...and over again, AGAIN!!!).

Checking up, I see the Harp had R-2800's (arguably one of the finest air-cooled radials ever engineered) and the majority of Lodestars had Pratt & Whitney R-1690-25 or Pratt & Whitney R-1830 engines.

I'll put my money where my keyboard is, and do ALL engine variants if they are to be tackled in this interesting project.



So be prepared Sir, for a constant bombardment of Radial din that will make you wish you'd gone for the hang-glider.
