    Aerocrate

Anybody still flying Aerocrate? I went there last night, I had forgotten how much fun it is.

  2. #2

    Affirmative

Yep, I still enjoy these campaigns from time to time, especially since there is all too little WW1 stuff for our favourite sim. Gary' s planes are still among the very best made, and really fun to fly. What is really needed however, is a better scenery. The western front looks like just a brown river of mud across France. So if any of the fantastic geniusses that crowds this forum would like to do some WW1 stuff, I'll be delighted.

Hi Fellas, I did once create several versions of the Western Front. Only my first attempt is still out there, over at simviation CFS2 scenery page 22. it looks like this version was built for stock CFS2 textures. so it doesn't work too well with enhanced european texture sets. I think I have retained some of the other work I did. Some of which was made with aerocrate missions in mind. If you press me, I might repackage what I have and get it uploaded here.

Glad to hear that, I'll look them up. Has anyone heard from Gary Aumaugher, he did some quality work. Blondi had almost completed a 1917 campaign when Gary stopped working on the site. It would be nice if it could be resurrected by some others, with permission of course. I think Old Wheat was doing some work on WWI aircraft at one time. Those old flimsey biplanes are pretty hard to shoot down.

Truth be told, after the multiple bombardments that's about all it WAS most of the time....

Punctuated by the odd stand of decimated and burnt trees, hedgerows, the occasional bridge, and a river or two...

What sort of detail were you thinking, Finn ?

I still have your scenery and the Werner Voss Campaign I was working on. I also have the airfield Proville by Psully around somewhere. It was made for my campaign but never released.

That would be great if you could find those and upload them here. A lot of good people put in some fine work back "in the day" and I'd like to see more people visiting Aerocrate. I even noticed your name on a couple of things. Could you possibly finish the Voss campaign?

    What a stirr

Wow, it seems a lot of good people already have a lot of WW1 stuff up their sleeves. When talking about a better scenery, I meant something with trenches and lines that may be filled with soldiers, and of course the millions of shell craters. Actually the payware add-on Combat Aces did have a pretty good scenery, but unfortunately not one working very well with the Aerocrate one. Actually the front lines do not even lie the same places, so if you have both campaigns on the same install, you'll get two frontlines to fly over, and the two add-ons cause each other to crash all the time. But maybe this thread will bring new stuff to the good old Out-house

    Pibs from old Voss campaign.

    OLD?

This is from your OLD campaign? Gee, it looks like something made yesterday with all the new, gleaming things in it. AWESOME, Talon. Please, please finish and upload this beauty - but then, have you ever done anything, that was NOT wonderful? Nothing I can recall. Thanks for all your beauties that keeps this sim alive.

I still fly all the Aerocrate missions and campaigns, Gary's planes were and still are the best to me. I just love the FE2b and boy, would I love to see something new in the CFS2 WWI arena.
    Here's hoping!
Do not fear the enemy, for they can take only your life. Fear the media far more, for they will destroy your honour.

I don't know if I'll get back to doing any WW1 campaigns. My plate is full working on the Aleutians and next back to the PNG.

Maybe some of you can learn to build missions and give the few that do missions and campaigns a break. You can't always depend on about 5 or 6 people to do everything.

Actually I was close to done with the second campaign when Gary bowed out.Still have what I had done. The problem is that Gary was going make some aircraft for the campaign. One Bomber in particular is not replaceable. It seems no one is making WW1 aircraft any more.i fact I don't think anyone is making very many CFS2 aircraft anymore.I see a lot of conversions but not many new things but I could be wrong. I've been too busy with other things lately.I get back into CFS2 more in the winter.i go back and see things I could have done differant in the first campaign.maby soething to do this winter.Have a good one Blondi:cost1:

PS I will be gone for about a week tomorrow so I will have to check back when I get back to see if anyone has Questions.I hear Gary is heavely into flying model aircraft these days.

Which planes are you missing? I have collected WW1- planes from all over the place for years, maybe I have one that will fill the void?

Oh boy, you would ask that one.The first one that comes to mind is the AER Handley Page 0/400-0/100 by Peter Russell..The plane was available way back when. I have a copy BUT it contains language in the readme that only allows it to be downloaded at the now extinct Aerdrome site. The readme comes complete with monetary damages to be paid if there are anyone breaks this rule .Therefore Sim outhouse cannot download it.Efforts to contact Peter Russell came up empty.Gary was going to make one but He dropped out of CFS2.I literaly cannot remember all the others and my E-mail from Gary is now elegeable because of some quirk in Windows 7.A German Armored ground attack plane with guns sticking out of the belly comes to mind.I don't remember the type. Maby Albatros.Have a good one .BLONDI:cost1:

    Got it

OK, I have it. PM your mail adress, and I'll shoot it off. Since the old AER planes are all but gone from the net, would it be a good idea to upload them for preservation? I took all the AER planes while it was still possible, so I have the full monty.

    Finn,

Later this afternoon, I will create a new username..."Aerocrate." Please feel free to upload, and I will also go through my files and supplement whatever else is needed. I may also create a new section for World War I, it might make the process a little easier.

OKI,now I'm a little confused. The exinct site was the Airodrome site.Aerocrate is still there.I would think you would have to get Gary's permision to upload any of his stuff.BLONDI:cost1:

    Confusion?

Blondi, don't be confused - the file you need is from the now long gone AER site. I downloaded all their files way back in time and am going to upload the complete package for preservation. The HP o/400 is among them.

OK,Great but did anyone get permision from Peter Russell to download his plane. His readme inside was pretty plain about who could download it and where from, plus also a Spad I believe. Also I don't need the file. Iv'e had it since I downloaded it from the Airodrome years ago.i just couldn't use it due to Russells licence agreement with the Airodrome. This was not freeware that any site could download.it still is'nt as far as I know.Seems Like Jag or someone at SOH had a few comments way back then about Russells stuff and the fact that he would not answer e-mails or give permisions to download his planes.Only Peter Green had permision, and only at The Airodrome.BLONDI:cost1:
