I've just returned from a trip to the hairdresser where I had my daughter's hair braided.
Now in "men's world", I always tip my barber when I get a haircut so I must ask...

Absolutely!! The tip should be anywhere's between 15% and 18%. Whenever I go to the salon to have my hair done, it costs around $160 for cut & color, so I usually tip $25.
Now what I want to know is....did you tip her?
I pay $14 for a haircut and a $3 tip. For the amount of hair they have to cut, it is a very good tip.
I have electric clippers, and buzz off what hair I have left on my head about every 4-6 weeks. Maybe I should start tipping myself.
I cringe every time my wife goes to get her hair done. Not only does the visit to the salon cost me about $160, but most of the time she buys several bottles of shampoo/moisturizer, and THOSE cost me an additional 50-60 bucks.......grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

Janet says yes. 20% is good.
I shave my head, so I don't tip

Panther,
I know the question is for the ladies, but the tip for a braid should be more towards the 20% side of the scale because it's kind of labor intensive. Yeah I know, that could mean a $20 tip.

I kidd around with you. I just don't under stand the hair cut, colored and styled. That I'll never see if you go and get it done. An all that make up.
You all wake up with out make up and hair a mess and we all don't go running. (I hope he don't.):d This young pup just don't get it. I'd find better things to spend $160 bucks every 6-8 weeks.

I'm another one that cuts his own hair. When I worked I would get it styled and that was around $35 plus a $5 tip.
Now that I'm living on SS I can't afford to get it cut.

i've never tipped anyone, why should i pay the person what there allready being paid to do
yes i know i cant spell half the time! Thank you kindly to those few who pointed that out
There ya go. I don't get tips for mowing lawns, and that can run up to 70 bucks or more for 2 acres. Everybody expects a tip even if they don't do a thing for ya. Everybody is tip crazy. How about a tip to the customer for a change?
What about those that do a bad job for you or on you and you're not satisfied with the results, should they still get a tip? I don't think so.

i never tip her

if thats not enough up your prices
i work in a service industry i get no tips
and do not expect one
there are people who live on tips
such as waiters and bar tenders
thats fair enough
they get one from me
thats it
but only if they do a good job
if not no tip!

The person doing my hair usually charges 13 dollars for the cut and wash or wash and cut. No blow drying as I prefer to air dry ...
I usually drop a 20 and walk away.
Do it all the time.

Pretty much what I have to deal with having long hair, I use 4 different things daily, adds up. Luckily I am friends with a person that runs Toni & Guy saloon and I get a deal on the service and the supplies, but it's still expensive. Thinking of cutting it all off, man talk about saving some bucks then!
When I was a musician and lived in Austin and my hair was longer (past my butt) I had a sweet deal. My girlfriends sister owned her own hair saloon and she always hooked me and my bandmates up!
