UPDATE for all Radial Aircraft Panels
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...atid=6&id=5350
Finishing this up. Found one picture and one drawing in an old Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine from 1989!
Dave
Wow Dave! That looks magnificent. Quite a special livery! Even an individual anti-glare panel. Makes this Willie Fudd a unique species.
I'm very much looking forward to this one. Thank so so much for all the great work. Very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Maarten
With a name like Willi Fudd it has to be loveable....

Hopefully, I'll have it up in the next few days. Gotta few tweaks to do!!! Many Thanks to Duckie, who found a larger, better copy of the one picture I had! Still no evidence of a Bureau number. It is captioned as a WF-2. Thanks for all the reponses. Still have a few more to do.
Dave
will definately be watching for this one Dave..!! beautiful..!!

sorry..
Guys,
I just uploaded the WF-2, USS Forrestal a few minutes ago. Couldn't find a bureau number in any references, so it doesn't have one. Thanks Duckie, for the picture!

Beautiful rendition Dave; thank you a bunch!
You are welcome. Still working on some more. Will post some wip's when I can.
Dave, I just found this on the internet (forgot to write down the source):
"US Navy types: Anchored off Italy, USS Forrestal has sent five aircraft to Le Bourget to fly the flag of the Sixth Fleet in Paris. They are: Chance Vought F8U-2 Crusader (aircraft 146906 from squadron VF-103); Douglas F4D-1 Skyray (9065 from squadron VF-102), carrying a probe buddy pack; Douglas A4D-2N Skyhawk (147806 from squadron VA-83); Grumman S2F-3 Tracker (147533) and Grumman WF-2 Tracer (aircraft 404 from squadron VAW-12). But for technical reasons these ships are outshone by the two that have come from the Naval Air Test Center at Patuxent River, Maryland: a North American A3J-1 Vigilante (147852) and a McDonnell F4H-1 Phantom 2 (146819). Both these aircraft are powered by twin GE J79 turbojets with reheat, both are capable of exceeding M2, and neither has been seen in Europe before."
This must have been the 1961 Le Bourget Salon. (http://www.museeairespace.fr/fileadm...ns-100-ans.pdf) Perhaps this info will be of help in finding the bureau number of the WF-2 Tracer 404 for your repaint.
Cheers,
Maarten
Thanks Maarten! That is interesting. I looked over the photo pretty good and don't see it painted on the aft fuselage as it normally was.I suspect it may not have been painted on the aft fuselage due to the unusual rendition of the Navy lettering (i.e.U.S. NAVY vice NAVY only.) Still, it's a neat repaint and a worthy addition to the hanger!
Dave
The next one out of the paintbooth! A S-2D of VS-41 based at NAS North Island, San Diego!
Dave
Magnificent repaints . Keep up the good work!
Milton,
Where are the prop domes (front part of the hub) mapped to? I tried changing the color of the texture "chromespinner_t" and it didn't change it. Thanks!
