Martin B-57A Canberra pack out now

Well, at long last (as Warhorse will tell you!), Flying Stations is pleased to announce the release of the Martin B-57A/RB-57A Canberra pack.

For those not familiar with the type, the 'Alpha' of the B-57 series is a somewhat overlooked entity in the family, much overshadowed by the tandem 'B' series that followed the 68 'A's that were built. The 'A's were similar in external appearance to their British cousins, and were still fitted with the bubble canopy, albeit with a crew of two and a revised seating and cockpit layout. The biggest change was the introduction of more powerful engines and a natty rotating bomb bay door (now commonplace on bombers) that did not produce drag and allowed for higher speeds over the target area. However, the USAF brass still felt the design not suitable for a true night interdictor role, and so re-designed the Canberra to produce the better known American version, the 'B'.

Here however, in keeping with the bubble canopy aspect of this series, I have made four variants of the B-57A: The original stillborn B-57A, the recon-bomber RB-57A, and two offshoots in the form of the weather mod WB-57A (very similar to a RAF B.6 (mod), and the NASA test-bed JB-57A with launchable sounding rocket.

thanks very much for downloading the pack, I hope you get on well with it. She's an easy bird to fly, and all the more so now with the autopilot 2D panel. Very forgiving and easy to land as well, and that's saying something coming from me!

One silly question for you, Steve. What is //lamp0 ?? I was setting up my lights to the Shockwave lights, and saw this entry for the VC. I'm not sure what it does, or if I should remove the backslashes or not.

The //lamp entries are simply guides for me to know what lights are what; if I remember correctly, the lamps are meant to be cabin lamps. Leave them commented out with the double slashes. I had previously modified my shockwave lights to have a red glow instead of white - it's pretty easy if you want to do it yourself. Nevertheless the white ones will still do the job.

RAF Alconbury by Team SDB. It's part of their UK Airfileds of the Cold War package.

I was setting up to land at RAF Binbrook, but got called to dinner...

What a fantastic series, WH, maybe your best yet! Really captures the old girl well, I have to say I am leaning in favour of that scheme over the orange and silver one. Looks hot, dry and crisp. Especially love the last parked shot. Keep 'em coming.
