    Gmax source files clear out

    Get em whilst there hot.

Do what you like with them, but no monies to be made at all from the source files, in part or in whole.

These are the last copies of these files, they no longer reside on my HD as I've had to tidy a lot up with the move to FSx, Gmax is gone and FS9 is cut right back.

Some are quite good, others just bare structures, to be honest it'd take longer to convert to Max than to build new.

    Most generous, thankyou.
All modern aircraft have four dimensions: Length, Width, Height and Polotics. The TSR.2 simply got the first three right

Only if I knew how to model, paint and just mess around with fs aircraft. I'd be all over that Cobra

    Thanks Michael.

I've saved the Bristol for the day I learn how to master Gmax.

    Thanks Michael.

Once I learn Gmax, these source codes will come in handy for doing up some multi-lod versions for CFS2.

Sure, no problem, so long as the readme stays intact and abided by, y'all can do what you like with them.

I spent long enough learning what did what and how this and that animation worked or namings etc in the old days, hopefully these'll help others in the future.

I didnt actually know you could convert to FSDS ?, does it retain animations and texture mapping ?.

    Best

No it does not. Only the model itself remains. Depending on how it is processed, there may be a need to split the parts back too....If have imported back and for with the doors and fuselage for the EC-155 with no problems.

I am now assuming the P-61 will be FSX only?

Why ?, this is a Gmax clear out not a Max clear out, FS9 is cut back, not deleted. Carefull modeling and naming will allow the P-61 to reside in both sims, converting from FS9 isnt as bad or difficult as I was led to believe.

Granted, specular and bump mapping needs to be addressed but the bulk is convertable with a little effort.

What this one ( attached ) ?, thats a Max file I'm afraid, again I'll try and squeeze into FS9 but a more detailed one will show up in FSx.

To be fair I've so many projects that making them all dual sim will lead to nothing, so only a few advanced ones will go to FS9 as well, new ones will be aimed at FSx.

Looks lovely. I'd be more than happy to see the Huey in FSX only but would be ecstatic to see it in both......

    All the best

I don't think you can, If I recall correctly MDLC is one of those reverse engineering utilities that decompiles the mdl and converts to another format. There was a bit of an uproar when it was released and the authors removed that part of the code, but some older copies still float around.

Its one of those tools that can be used to convert legitimate files to new formats, I think the Strike Fighters community uses it to convert FS models to SF series. It can also be used to 'steal' other authors work and rework and claim as your own. It is a tool that needs to be used with discretion and utmost transparency to avoid finger pointing, if used sensibly its a great assert.

I may be wrong but thats my understanding of MDLC, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I've no issue it being used on these part finished source files supplied here in.

    Best

Would be nice if somebody with skills far greater than mine would turn that A-3 into a RA-3B.
