Many years ago I was very fortunate to go to the reunion of the 98th Bomb group. Got to talk to a lot of the personal of the group and spending some time visiting with Col. John Kane who was awarded the Medal of Honor for the mission. Its was just great being there, and talking to some of the old pilots about flying, what great day!
. The Group gave me a book about the reunion and some of the mission they flew. I will never forget it.

The EC-24 is payware, Just Flight, part of their DC-8 collection. They have FSX and P3d versions.

The EC-24A was originally a United DC8-54F. The Navy got hands on it, gave it a Navy desig / BuNo so it was used under the "public aircraft" designation so it did not have to go through FAA STC certification after it was heavily modified as an electronic warfare training aircraft.

As best I recall, it was flown by a contract civilian cockpit crew with Fleet Electronic Warfare Support Group (FEWSG) Navy types in back.

They would provide various spook services out of Norfolk against Navy surface groups working up for deployment, simulating Russian BEAR/BISON and cruise missile electronic emissions and tactics.

FEWSG also used modified A-3s, P-3s and TA-4s for similar purposes. I believe the EC-24 was useful for its ability to show up around a battle group or ship at very long range from shore, as well as a large variety of equipment and numerous operators.

Hi Taco, I too got to go to the final reunion of the 357th F.G. in 2001 at Dayton. It was a very memorable event and one I still think of today. Like you said, it's something you can't forget!
I did Kane's mount and "Wongo Wongo" a couple of weeks ago but wasn't happy with the noseart. Not good enough pictures to use so I didn't upload them. I will work on them again and see what I can do to make them better.

    Bob.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of 323 squadron from the Royal Netherlands Air Force a Dutch F-35 has received special artwork at the tail.

The 323 TES (Test and Evaluation Squadron) is currently stationed at Edwards AFB in California. There the squadron is responsible for the Operational Test & Evaluation of the F-35 for the Royal Air Force. The artwork at the tail shows Diana the Roman goddess of the hunt, who can also be found in the 323 squadron logo.

The silhouettes of the aircraft previously flown by this squadron have also been painted on the tail. These were the Gloster Meteor, Hawker Hunter, Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, Lockheed F-16 and now the Lockheed F-35.

The artworks has been designed by Christy Tortland, an American designer/artist. Its common that the F-16 receive special tail artwork to celebrate an anniversary. This is the first time a Dutch F-35 receives special anniversary markings.

The repaint is for Dino Cattaneo's beautiful F-35 (the latest freeware version (Ver.2.41)). I will upload this repaint soonish..........

    Cheers,
    Huub

Love the F-15 Aggressor schemes Zsolt, keep them coming! BTW, nice work on the F-4's as well. I've always loved the creative schemes the JASDF uses on their planes.
