Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Last July we were contacted by the son of Maj. Carl E. Decklar, who was the pilot who flew the original P-51K depicted, "Dot Darlin". His son, Marshall Decklar, had purchased the simulation and had shown his dad the aircraft and as I recall Maj. Decklar had several rounds in this virtual recreation of his original mount. He was 91 at the time, and it was passed along to us that he thought the depiction to be very accurate, but that, as he recalled, "Dot Darlin" never carried the 75-gallon metal tanks, only the 108-gallon paper tanks - we obviously had to set things right. Maj. Decklar enlisted in the USAAF on October 23, 1942, and served with the 355th Fighter Group, 354th Fighter Squadron in England from December 1944 until December 1945. Following WWII, he served in the USAF until 1963. We were very saddened to later learn of Maj. Decklar's passing in September of last year.
Here's a few photos of the original aircraft and pilot:
