Love their Gee Bee! It is definitely an aircraft which requires great attention to properly land, and it is quite critical to get the speed slow enough through a lot of pre-planning (probably one of the most repeated errors by FS-users for any aircraft type, especially taildraggers, and this one demands it), and be well in-front of what the airplane is doing, as the very small elevators, at slow-speed, are terribly ineffective. In the air, it is amazingly maneuverable, just as the real design was proven. The other issue on landing, is visibility forward - several real-world landings I have seen on tape of the replica Gee Bee R-2, were performed with a slide-slip from base through final.
The Gee Bee is still one of the leading aircraft that Alphasim/Virtavia have for FSX, as I see it, with 3D gauges and excellent detail throughout, and it can be purchased here - I can't see it becoming 'freeware':
