    Champion Tri-Traveler 7AF

Whatever happened to Lilski's Tri-Traveler project? I only arrived here on SOH in time to hear about it's existance, but never heard anything about it after that. I'm a long time 'roncer fan and love LIC's stuff. Just wondering. LA

There was a beta version made .
Cazzie did some very good paints for it .
    I have them .

I've done quite a few repaints for it, but if it doesn't get released to the general public, there's not much point uploading them anywhere.

    wish it would be released...

Thanks to the kindness of an SOH member I got a copy. It was very well done, as are all the LIC birds. I converted mine to a 7HC. The corporate transport version! It had a control wheel in front, removable stick in back. Rear seat wide enough for two (executives?). Lycoming 140 HP. No flaps. Champion couldn,t be faulted for trying almost anthing with the old Chanp airframe!

Aeronca also did a very nice four-seater called the 15AC Sedan:

Also sans flaps but it proved to be very popular as a bush plane up north.

Oof! I'm really late to this party. I was just searching for Champ photos and came across LIC's Tri-Traveler Beta. I didn't even have FS2004 back then. This link doesn't seem to work, not even at archive.org: http://www.liclassics.com/7FCBETA1.zip. Are there any other download sites after all this time? Thanks.

Apparently it's being passed around. Can the link not be made public for some reason?

I emailed LilSki quite a while ago asking if we could upload it here at SOH, but never got a reply from him.

It would be nice if it could be uploaded. it's really a nice model, and fun to paint too.

    have one

Again thanks to a very generious SOH member I have a Tri Traveler ,but was wondering about a little known Champ that had the nose gear positioned just in back of the main gear so the plane sat level like a nose gear equipped plane but the nose gear was in back of the mains.
Also when I was taking flying lessons , back with the Wrights, I remember a twin engine Champ ,whose main purpose was to train for your twin engine rating.
These would be super cool to have and I wouldn't think would'nt take a lot of work.Anyone ever hear or see these planes? There are ads for both in my collection of Flying magazines.

Info from Aerofiles :http://www.aerofiles.com/_ca.html under "Champion"

    http://www.airport-data.com/articles...-Rev-1:40.html

"The general shape of the Champion fuselage was retained, although beefed up, with larger vertical and horizontal tail surfaces. Where the single engine had resided, a smoothly rounded nosecone appeared. The main wheels of the tricycle gear were directly under the wing-mounted engines, a pair of Continental O-200s developing 100 hp apiece and twirling fixed-pitch propellers."

    Thanks for the info

Thankyou for the info at least people know it wasn't my medication that was causeing me to imagine these planes.
Does anyone know of a good refernce book on planes of the 20's through 60's?

  19. #19

    Good info at:

    http://www.8kcab.com/8KCAB-INFO.html

They have a section showing the history of the Champion series. Lots of odd and mix & match configurations.
