Poking around I came across the paints by Morton for the Ito F9F Cougar. I downloaded it and did what I believe the instructions say but still can't get the bloody thing to show up for free-flight. Has anyone else gotten this plane to work in CFS2?

Yes................but it's tricky
Are you at the hundred plane limit?.........this is a complex aircraft so it counts as maybe three or four.
I am not sure what I did to get it to work.....since there was so many steps to convert
You need to be up on how to use Aired and clipboard copy from and add to .........unknowns categories
I did that ......but not sure if that is what your having trouble on?
Naming convention or airfile and aircraft config???? to match the mdl name and model.cfg file....
MK_Mdlc_v2 conversion and animation fix.......etc..........
and then........
You didn't hear it from me ........due to Mr. Ito restrictions and prohibitions
This is a complex effort.......so don't pull your hair out.......since I would give this an 6.0 rating on scale 1 to 10 of CFS2 expertise and political correctness
As said Kazunori Ito doesn't want his planes to be used in CFS2. What's so difficult about that that you don't understand????
Cees
Make that a 9 out of 10 on political correctness.............
"What's so difficult about that that you don't understand????"
Excuse me, Are you starting a flame here? I didn't ask a simple question to be called stupid!!!!!!!!!!!
Rockstar; thanks for your reply. I guess I will tinker some more when I have the time. Since there seem to be some elements that I may not paid as close attention to as I should.
Hey guys,
Let's please sleep on it. We don't need to get into a tizzy.

I'm not starting a flame, merely reminding you of the restriction mr. Ito put on the use of his planes, which rockster should have done in the first place. Just as we do not discus things as a no cd patch in these forums, we don't discus things that obviously contradict the wishes of developers.

Mr Donker is a Moderator in the SOH FS9 forum and longtime member of SOH.
Mr Ito builds all types of aircraft (including combat models) expressly for use the FS series MS simulators. (which have no native weaponry)
It is at his request that NONE of his creations be armed in ANY flight sim .... our included.
I hope this info helps everyone to better understand and abide by his wishes.
Now lets kiss & make-up ... have a beer & put out the flames.

I Agree W/ Dirty Dirty Man.
However....
There is NO Rule that states one cannot Convert and Modify Mr Ito's Planes FOR PRIVATE USE..... Is there ?
Except, perhaps, the guilt and self-loathing that occurs when I shoot one of his UNARMED beauties down .....

I agree 100% SC
I have personally assisted several members flight-tune many of Mr Ito's models, converted (and armed) for CFS2; but have erased them after completion of the project.

sc7500,
It's kind of a "see no evil" principle.
But again, it's something that we shouldn't really be helping too much with. If you're converting these planes and get stuck, you're kind of on your own.
Hopefully, this clears things up.

Mmm. I politely disagree.
Here is what Mr Ito says in his readme:
"Please Notice
I like military aircrafts. Especially, fighter!!
But, It is because the shape is unique and the manoeuverability is good.
I like aircraft that can freely fly in the big sky.
However............I hate war and combatting.
When I thinks the airframe that I made launches the bullet and the missile, I become scary.
Therefore, I'm prohibiting convert of my airframe for CFS.
If it is possible, I am wishing my airframe not to be used in CFS.
Though you might be said "Because it's simulation world"..........
Please..........Please......."
Is this a passionate request or not?
But: I'm not here to quarrel with any of you about this great hobby we share. I guess for a moment I forgot the adagium of this site:''Let being helpfull be more important than being right." And so Fibber, I apoligize if my words rubbed you the wrong way. I don't know what you wrote earlier in this thread 'cause it is removed. I don't have to, to see that you feel I insulted you. I didn't mean it to be read like that.

The version I was working on was the unarmed version and was attempting to use it for personal satisfaction in "Free Flight", as I stated in my original post, and as a learning experience.
Cees apology accepted.
It is indeed, and [to the extent that he is the Creator of his works] I respect his wishes.
However, VERY rarely does anything leave my hangar and fly to another "workshop"... and I'm willing to hammer against Mk_MDLC until I can get one of his more stubborn planes converted.
After that - if the DP file just HAPPENS to drop into DPEdit for an upgrade.... well...
So - just my 2 cents.
