Got the shakes??

Here's a question for the aircraft tuners.

What causes an aircraft to shake when the throttle is increased and brakes are applied during takeoff?? :salute:

Prior to full throttle, no shaking. After releasing the brakes and rolling down the runway, no shaking.

Is there an aircraft.cfg parameter that needs adjusting??

The shaking simulates the vibrations that real aircraft exhibit when the engines are throttled up with the brakes applied.

If it is eccessive it can indeed be from incorrect contact points. There are threads going way back on the shakes, some with fix ideas. It's been a long time and I forget what to adjust to fix this. Unless someone else knows right away I can check into it. What aircraft is it?

Talking of shakes, I've been flying the (Piglets ?) OS2U Kingfisher float recently, and at anything between stationary (even with the engine off) and about 70knots, it 'shivers'. I'm guessing it's something to do with the wing float contact points, but does anyone have a cure ?

I'll check but I'm pretty sure I've got new points for that. In fact I think it was what got me onto cfg tweaks. Be right back..

point.1 = 4, -9.07, -2.50, -5.89, 1574, 0, 0, 0, 0.80, 2.50, 0.70, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
point.2 = 4, -9.07, 2.50, -5.89, 1574, 0, 0, 0, 0.80, 2.50, 0.70, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
point.3 = 4, -1.64, -14.15, -4.90, 1574, 0, 0, 0, 1.20, 2.50, 0.68, 0, 0, 2, 0, 0
point.4 = 4, -1.63, 14.25, -4.90, 1574, 0, 0, 0, 1.20, 2.50, 0.68, 0, 0, 3, 0, 0

I added one extra float so be sure to change the numbers of the rest of the points. It still bobs too much but this is as far as I got.

I was thinking you could just copy and paste over the other points as they all work together. First make a copy of the aircraft cfg then open it using note pad. Scroll down until you come to [contact points]. They start from 0 up to whatever in that section. Like the first one, "point.0 = 4, 6.07, 0.00, -7.10, 1574, 0, 0, 0, 0.50, 2.50, 0.70, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0," where 0 means it is the first point and 4 means it is a float.
Copy this group 0-4 and paste it over the old group 0-3 (I added one more). Now look below what you just put in and re-number as needed so the rest are in sequence. Close the window saving when prompted. More than anything else it is the number 0.50 and that -7.10 that make a big difference. You can look at a default cfg and see some explanations of what they affect. Try them out and see if things improve, they did at my end. After revisiting this I am contacting Tim for permission for a general cfg update permission.
