What war's rare aircraft interest you?

This is for a project i am thinking bout doing but need to know a little in what would be the most interesting rare aircraft to be put into the sim.

All i am doing right now is thinking, i may or may not do this. It will depend.

I would like to see a nice little P-39 Airacobra.
    Or a huge B-29 superfort.
    So I voted WW2.

    A modest list of mine:
    1. Fokker G1
    2. Fokker DXXI
    3. Heinkel He 115
    4. Blohm & Voss 141
    5. Dornier Do 24
    6. Heinkel He 100
    7. Junkers F13

Well that pretty much locks me into the WW2 era.

Maryland and Baltimore, the strikers. Used extensively by the RAF in the med, giving Rommel a right ole bloody nose.

To make up your mind if you had no idea what a rare aircraft was. I hadn't myself so I googled up that . Some blur the definition from "rare" and "weird".

Food for thought for some devs' here anyway like Piglet or Lionheart ...

I like the Abrams Explorer, the Arups are nice too but I did the US pages only. Gotta look at the whole site.

    Said it before ...but...

Would be great to see some Soviet Cold War aircraft in full fat FSX goodness....Sukhoi's,MiG's,Antonovs,Ilyushin's,Tup olevs (especially the mighty Bear),Mil helicopters etc etc etc

Yeah I agree..not exactly rare and not cold war but a Yak-3 would be nice.

  8. #8
Come on guys, the Yak-3 was anything but rare . Now tell me about the JERMOLAJEW JER-2 bomber or the Mig 5 and 8 or even better the Kalinin K12 !

PS I've fond memories of the Captain Sim Yak-3 for FS9 (or 8 ?)!

Well, since I don't have the choice of World War I or Between the Wars, I'll have to bote WW II, since most of them had props.

Since it is suppose to be a rare subject, how about a Curtiss-Wright CW-21 Demon?

    Don't forget WWI: Junkers D.I, Siemens-Schuckert D.III/D.IV, Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI.

WWII aircrafts are cool, and they are in fact leading the poll right now.
However, there are already a lot of WWII addons available.
Now, how many good quality russian aircrafts do we have ?

What I don't understand is why no one has considered doing the Spanish Civil War. It had a wide range of aircraft involved that were in that transition from fabric covered bi-planes to metal monoplanes. An interesting aviation period totally ignored in simming.

indeed a long list, though not much from the western side of the pond.
A lot of interesting history too ( including mercenary pilots from all over the world)

Some of the italian models are available as (really well made) portovers.

And looking at all the aircraft, a He-112, He-70, H-111C, Ju-86D, Bf-109A to early E would be kind of nice to have.

Would love to see more experimental aircraft from the Cold War:

    X-24B
    HL-10
    M2-F3
    X-20 Dyna Soar
    Bell X-2

    FDL-5

    I would like a FW-189 or better still a BV-141

    and a Norseman perhaps?
    and of course a P-61!
You can find most of my repaints for FSX/P3D in the library here on the outhouse.

Besides the He-100, Ta-154, and He-112 already mentioned, how about an Fw-187...

  19. #19
Wow.... Amazing guys. I was thinking bout the WW1 era. So basically anyone who votes for the WW2 will count as also WW1. Like i said, i am still thinking bout it.

WWI aircraft? Hmmmm... Seems to me that there's not been a lot of two-seaters done... I'm thinking about RE8, Be2c, Rumpler, Aviatik, DFW, Albatros C-series... a Taube would be neat as well...

I like the rare German WW2 designs like the Do-335, Ta-154, Me-209 II, Me-309. Would love to see some of the prewar designs that came from the golden age era. The Me-209 racer looks like quite a hotrod.

Also the rare cold war designs were quite facinating, like the F-90.

I would really like to see the Mig-9 Attachment 14707

I voted for Cold War because there are a good deal of forgotten Soviet aircraft. The Sukhoi T-4 comes to mind. I flew the wings off the one Copper Beard put out. There are a ton of others that are at Monino that have been long forgotten. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Air_Force_Museum

I voted Korea, but I like the 'Golden Age' period between the Wars the best.
