    Change videocard

    Hi all

I´m in need for a advise.

I plan to change my current videocard (Ledtek GF8800GTS 320MB) to Ledtek GF 8800GTX 768MB.

The GTX sales very cheep here in Sweden. for now.

Have somebody a knowhaw of the card ?

I´m know the card is old, but at least I get more memory on the card.

    Best Regard

Just make sure you have a big enough power supply for your system to power the card ... and the latest drivers.

8800GTX is still a very good card. Just make sure your psu is up to powering it as Snuffy has already stated...you'll need a good 500-600watt power supply (though in saying that I've one in a Dell XPS420 running off a 350watt psu...it's all to do with the amperage).

KD said it right it has to do with the amperage on +12v should be 45-50A sustained or higher for best results on single rail no lower than 24A on dual rail PSU

    cange vidocard

    Thanks for the replys.

    My current system is:

    Coolermaster Centurion 5 case. Bluestorm II 500w PSU with dual +12v rail 18A / 18A and 2x 6pin PCI -E connections.

I´m find a list on the net what cases support 8800GTX card, and the Centurion 5 is one of the cases.

Well - If I have to change the psu, I will do so. Maybe from the Corsair brand.

    8800GTX

    Hi

To day I have install my new videocard "Leadtek Winfast PX8800 GTX 768MB.

It fitt OK in my Coolermaster Centurion 5b.

I´m use (for now) my current PSU Bluestorm 2. 500W Dual +12V 18A/18A.

And the same driver I have for the card I´m used before (Leadtek 8800GTS 320MB).

I have for 3 hours flying differens flightsim FS2004, BoB II, IL2 1946 with all setting to max.

All vell, no strutter, frezing or weard graphic.

With my GTS card, I whas not able to fly the BoB II with patch 2.10 + multiskin, after a minutes the game

    frezed.

Regard the latest driver is not allways the best. I have trouble with the A A with jagged lines. Nvidia v197.45.

So I reinstall my older driver Nvidia v97.94, and I have smooth lines and sharp textures. in all of my flightsim.

The price for the card here in Sweden I pay 1 600 SEK (ca.: $200 USD)

For my GTS card I pay $450 USD 2007.

    Best Regard

going to a 8800 with more memory isnt even worth it. if you want a upgrade thats worth it but cheap, a gts 250 or gtx 260 is for you.

Yes DV I agree about the 470/480 Fermi and I have installed four of those on test units. The problem is that even using Nick N's guide with the latest beta drivers from Nvidia, Fermi does not look as sharp as my 260GTX though it is faster. According to Nick N it is fine with SP1 but all the units I had to test had Acceleration and the sharpness was terrible with the drivers 257.21 WHQL. I removed nHancer and did what Nick has said would would work and then I saw his disclaimer about Acceleration and SP2 not working with Fermi. I am including some pics off of my unit with the 260GTX to compare your Fermi to. If there is a fix to get the FERMI looking sharp I really am interested. Notice my background detail and there are no blurries at all on a Q9550 OC to 4.2Ghz and a stable 34fps.Attachment 11030Attachment 11029

tenexcop youre doing something wrong then because

    1. these drivers arent beta anymore

    2. my 470 has a higher visual fidelity than my old gts 250, did you forget to change the resolution.

Thanks that's all I need to know. I hoped that was the case, because Fermi looks awesome on all the other games I test! It really flies!!!
