Try this little quiz to see how good your eye for color is...

A lower score is better...0 is perfect.

How'd I do? :costumes:
Zero...amazing! I must have cheated:costumes:
Zero here too! On both monitors - cheap 17" LCDs, non calibrated.
Although the calibration shouldn't really effect this test, since you are only comparing one color to another, not trying to get the "correct" color.

My screen is half pink, half black and white, not a good combo
I got a 19, for whatever that's worth. :mixedsmi:
Brian, the ability to distinguish similar shades of color is one reason behind a monitor calibration. That part of a calibration (level control) is mainly done with your brightness/contrast/gamma adjustments.
The other big reason is to make the colors represented on the screen as true to the same color in real life. This is done using a color curve profile.
If you scored a 0, then you've got good eyes and your monitors do a good job of distinguishing colors...even if they're not calibrated.
I've got a $500 Sony LCD that is great for games but stinks when I use it for color work...even if calibrated. I've got a cheapy Samsung LCD that does a much better job with colors and level control. That one scored 4 when calibrated and 12 when uncalibrated...I'm not gonna complain about it either way.
