Sometimes I decide to open up FSX for a quick flight.
Several seconds are needed on my system just to start Vista, then N-hancer gets on, then Saiteck's stick, pedals and yoke profiles need to be activated.
During this process the Avast update comes in, freezing all the rest for some more seconds. And then is the turn of Windows that wants to update itself. Some other times I am suggested to update Adobe, or Java or something else....
Finally it is time to start FSX (seeeeeveral seconds!!!), select an aircraft (not instantly done, as well), select a location (I hate the default flight), set time and weather, and press Start Flying. Loading the scenery takes another 3 to 4 minutes, wich means that just to be ready to fly I have to account at least 6 to 7 minutes.
At this point it is not uncommon for me to discover something going wrong with flight controls: for some reasons, sometimes, some button assignments get lost (the button that is supposed to open up the map view is instad operating the trim, or the differential brakes get on when releasing the park brake, or .....). This means shutting down FSX, (Vista sometimes) and starting all over again.
In conclusion: a short afterdinner ride of 10 minutes may take more than twice as much of PC time.
Is this normal ???
