    PBYs at Midway

    Hey

First off I'd like to say that the new PBY that just came out is my new favorite plane for CFS2.

    Ok three things here:

1.The PBYs at Midway (1942) took off from from the water right? I just wanted to know how to create an airbase at Midway so that I can take off from the water.

    2. I totally forgot how to add wake effects to float planes. I got the green ghost gauge and that is basically all I remember about that.

    3. Is there any scenery out for Midway?

    thanks

    Jerimi,

Yes there is a very nice CFS2 scenery for Midway.
    See the screenshots.
However I have it not and Idon't know where it is.:redf:
I hope that other forummembers can help with this idea to make CFS2 even better!

You'll have to disable your global GSL to make that install work (check the readme instructions). Because it superimposes over the stock Midway location, it creates a conflict with stock infrastructure and terrain - what little there is at Midway.

WRT the Catalina's, how you takeoff and land depends on the model you choose. The PBY-5 was a true sea/floatplane with no gear - so water start only. The PBY-5A was a true amphibious plane with gear also - so runway or water would do. But due to program limitations in CFS2, if your amphib has gear it will sink when you try to water-start it. So you'll have to air-start it in missions or use a runway. But you can land gear-up in water with a player-flown amphib.

    Midway

The Midway scenery is by "Otis" and has a name of "midway42.zip" and should be available at flightsim.com or avsim.com. If you can't find it, send me a PM with your address.

It requires one of two GSL options to get it to work properly.

    1. Turn off your GSL in the CFS2.cfg file
    2. Use Martin's GSL tools to remove the stock GSL layer for Midway

It is well worth the effort as this package recreates Midway as it was in June of 1942.

Whoops! Bearcat, you beat me to the post.
    Keep your airspeed up,
