Poll: What's your favourite RoF aircraft..?

    Well?

Mine's the Fokker D.VIII and not just because it's a Fokker but also because I managed to finally shoot down some aircraft with it..
Don't have all the aircraft yet btw!

I went for the Albatross DV but 2nd place would be the Plalfz IIIa if judging on ability to kill. But they are all great models. :ernae:

I've tried flying other aircraft ... but the true only aircraft I fly 99 percent of the time is the spad.

I'd like to see the vii in there too.

I also fly the SPAD XIII even though I have purchased all of them. I love her climb and dive ability and she is my favourite bird in the multiplayer.

I like the SPAD but the view from the cockpit is so restricted... Have you people who name it as their favourite aircraft found a way around that?

  7. #7
The S.XIII is indeed not comfortable regarding the cockpit visibility - especially if you are using TrackIR. I dont have any special method - just using default views and, sadly, external views. With those ones I can easily maneouver and If I fall in troubles, I simply dive and run away.

If you are not using TrackIR, try to use keys restricted to cockpit moves: left/right/up/down. If you will set the slider responsible for fast movement inside of the VC, you will be able to improve the views a bit.
At the beginning, I was not using TrackIR, just stick in my right hand and left on mouse to look around. But once my old stick died and I bought myself the Saitek x52, i was forced to wear TrackIT because of the separate throttle

I use TrackIR and zoom out as much as I can, but it remains uncomfortable. But yes, apart from that the SPAD is a great plane.

I voted for the Albatros D.V but now that i have it my vote goes to the Fokker D.VII

    Fokker D.VII for me

  11. #11
I voted for the Fokker DVII but now prefer the Se5a. high speed, a stable gunnery platform, good forward view, good bombload, excellent instrumentation and cockpit layout.

I selected the Albatross simply because I've always through the shape was so graceful and designed for speed. Square radiators belong on cars, not in the air. JMHO

Got the D.VIIF last night, and it is a close match with the D.VIII. More power, slightly less agile but a more stable platform. Got some nice kills last night against an assorted bunch of Nieuports:

Also like to add the Brisfit as a close second to the Camel :-)

I voted Spad 13.C1. But in all reality, any plane I can keep in the air.

I like the Pup. I can fly it, land it, get out of a spin (usually) and even, occasionally, shoot something down.
Rats - why won't anything work properly first time?

I tend to be very happy with the entire litter but my sentimental favourite has always been the Nieuport 17.C1.
So many of the greatest aces flew her with flair and success.

Yeah I would go for (and did) the Nieuport 17.C1 simply because it's what I feel the most comfortable flying, and what I have flown the most. It is very versatile. Unfortunately I haven't even flown all of the planes I own. You know how it is. Too many sims too little time . First world problems.
