OK Now....The picture with dates gave it away..

MAC apparently also goes by dates for their tech specks ..It does no say the same OS as yours , but its very close..

    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP485

If that is indeed yours than I am fairly sure we are looking at the right memory.... But I am still checking into that...

So don'r order just yet...It says yours can run 4 gigs total...

I suggest that you call them for assistance ..They will also help you get the serial number ..If their memory sells for the same as at Newegg I would just get theirs ordered while you have them on the phone...

The NewEgg 4 Gig kit ( 2X@) was 100 bucks..

For Mac and iPod technical support, please call:

    • Hours of Operation: 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific time

Sorry gang.. Was off watch for a few hours..

ChaCha, that is a difficult question on the ID of your computer. The info on the OS should tell you everything. Turn on the iMac (Tutty Fruity???) and click on the Apple icon, top left of toolbar, and click on the info. That should tell you everything.

If you brake down on the computer and cannot boot it up, get the box. It will have all your data on it. If you ever decide to throw away the box, peel off or cut out the various data labels which have your chassi number, build numbers, OS, etc, on it. (Build date, etc).

Basically, you have a 20" Aluminum iMac Unibody with OSX. I beleive you have a 2008 model as well, but not sure on the month.

Hope that helps. I think all their memory works about the same in the Alum. Unibody models. They use small chip sticks, similar to laptop sticks.

If you have a Frys Electronics, I think the memory is much less expensive there. They call them Sodium Sticks for some reason.. Sodium memory or sodium sticks.. Cant remember..

    Thanks Lionheart!

So my Tutti Fruity needs the same sticks that you put on yours?

I want to order now or the next couple of hours...

I want to make sure I am doing it right...

    Thanks again..

We don't have Frys here... we have CompUSA... or Nextag? ... and BB...

What ever you do, dont order from Apple, lol.. As much as I love them, their prices are just toooo high for parts.

Maybe call each store and get a price then ask for the model number so you can order online, (unless you are going out to get it now).

I looked for the model number and couldnt find it (on the mem sticks package.. I save them, but none had prices or the 'sodium' notation).

You should only have to tell them that its a 2008 iMac Aluminum Unibody, Intel chips inside, 20". They should be able to figure out from there what it is for memory. (I hope).

The 4 gig set at NewEgg is under 100 bucks...

Weird how the MACs use dates for their stats...

Someone needs to slap the PooPoo out of them for that dumb move...LOL

No wonder it costs 12 grand to get certified by them..

You have to go to dumb school just to learn how to make things so impossible to figure out...

Then you need a education in wildlife to be able to pronounce all their animal name Systems..
