    When Toy's R Us just won't do-build it yourself

A friend of mine recently completed this in his garage for his grandson's birthday. Sometimes homebuilt toys are the best.

That is just fantastic and I love the attention to detail. Being a former engineer I really like the way he linked the prop to the pedals so it turns as the plane moves. The little details in the cockpit made me smile too especially the 'ground loops' comment!

It's sad that the child will out-grow it in less than 12 months but I bet he will have some great memories of it when he's older.

Bravo to Grandad for doing this and he deserves some of these!

Of course, that also gives grandpa the opportunity to build a newer, larger one for next year's birthday. Ahh aviation... the gift that keeps on giving.

Plus, he'll be an expert on how to taxi a taildragger by the time he's old enough to get his PPL.

Your a good Dad. You know this girl is going to be a pilot , I am sure you do. Better start saving for flight school now.
